Please explain the clam-like shell part. Did it have an opening at the top?

Some limpets look like one half of a clam.

Glenn,

Flesh parts on both sides tends to make me think of a cowrie. The white foot thing had me thinking it was a limpet. I thought I might have figured it out but I don't think so anymore.

Let's think on this a bit. Anyone have any ideas???

I was looking at pics of cowries, and they had smooth shells and the ridges looked something like this vvvv all the way across and down in rows, im trying to get ahold of a good digi cam to use and try to catch it out again. Thanks Curt
