Question Anemone?

I've notice a few of these in my tank. I believe it's an anemone since the arms are sticky. The tenticles are green with orange bulbs at the end. The base is red, and I can see a mouth in the center. It extends at night and retracts during the day. This one was hiding under the rock until I flipped it over. Oh, and likes to eat flake food.

It doesn't look like any of the aiptasia in my tank.

Any ideas?

Thanks
-Tom

Do they look like these?

Read more here:
Anemonia Mojano

By the way, Majano anemones are often mistaken for small BTA's. They can bear a STRONG resemblance to them, and even bubble the tentacles...

It looks a lot like the pseudocoryactinis shroom. There are no google hits on pseudocoryactinis, any links?

Here is a pic just before the actinic turned off (with flash)

You can see the mouth in the center

Here's a pic after all lights were off (flash again)

The angle isn't very good, and the colors are washed out, but you can get an idea of how much bigger it gets.

My initial gut reaction was of a nuceince anemone like a majano. But after seeing the transluscent tentacles along-side the pic of the pseudocoryactinis shroom I have changed my mind.

I found some info:
http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issu...002/invert.htm

scroll down to Pseudocorynactis

The description matches:
small, powerfull nematocysts, bright orange tips, opens at night.

Thanks,
-Tom

I not sure that that is a Pseudocoryactinis sp but at may be. It could also be a Club-Tipped Anemone, such as one of the Telmatcatis sp

QUESTION;

Are the tentacles almost transparent, if so Pseudo, if not then some Telmat. Yours L@@KS like they may be transparent.

When extended they are translucent, but when compacted, they have a green tint.

The shape looks very similar to the club-tipped/strawberry anemones
(Corynactis sp.).

Then more than likely it is a Corynactis, a better choice than Pseudocornactis. Here are some images for you to look at.

Good stuff Boomer, as always.

Heck, I've been looking for a decent pic of a Telmatcatis sp for a loooong time, can never find one.

I know what youy mean, it's odd, as the Telmat's are much, much, more common than the Coryn's or Pseudo's
