SPS Coral Id please

Hi guys .... picked this nice peice up at the weekend but haven't been able to id it for sure. I think it might be Hydnophora rigida. I only id'd this from Borneman's book of corals (page 281) as the flatness of the coral braches look similar but when i done an internet search under this name, the corals i found did not look similar at all. Anyone got any thoughts.

Agree, it's hydnophora sp. probably rigida.

I'd call it Hydnophora as well.

Species just seems really problematic IMO ... as form and many other parameters can shift radically given it's original location.

That's just me, though. I'd rather have right genus and no species than have the wrong species and be presumptous.

Wood you old dog you ........ If everyone sent you their corals that you asked for you'd need a 1000Gallon just to house them all ..... but i guess you wouldn't be complaining eh !!!. LOL

These are reputed to be fairly aggressive and carry a potent sting to us humans as well...

I'm not much of an SPS fan...in fact, I'm getting ready to get rid of most of my soft corals too, and go just FOWLR again...
