What kind?

I am assuming it is some sort of anemone. It was the size of a dime when I first noticed it and in just a couple of months has grown to the size of a 50 cent coin.

Edit:
I am not good at this posting pictures thing. If you can't see it, it is in my photo gallery.

Thanks, Boomer!! I think it is a anemone also. It moves around the tank like an anemone. I have never seen the "foot" of it though. It's always in a hole.

I also have one in my tank. Did it start out kind of transparent with striping seen through the back? Mine has no foot, very flat doesn't move on LR. Also mine doesn't have the short tentacles in the middle, but it's only the size of a dime and has taken 9 months to get there. Your outer tentacles is what my whole anenome is composed of at this point. It withdraws if touched. Hope I can find out what it is....thanks

Mine moves though. It has moved twice since I put him in the new tank and that was only a month ago. It kind of looks like a mix of a Ric. and anemone. I have noticed since it has gotten bigger that it's mouth is almost the whole disk size. Like a slit right down the middle.

Ladipyg. Sounds like aptasia, they don't get very big, and are transparent.
Angnak,
That's one wicked looking anemone. How big is it now?

It is still about the size of a $.50 piece. a little bigger now though. It blends in very well with the rocks so I would say it is a purple-brown color. Man I wish I could ID that sucker. One day I am going to wake up, go and check on the tank, and then OMG, the thing is going to have my Lipstick in its mouth. Then I will find out what kind it is (the fish hunting carnivorous kind) and realize I should have taken it out a long time ago. Oh well.

I agree wit EK Ladipyg, it sounds like a description of aiptasia. They can be from solid clear to brown with any combinations of verigations.
