My first thought would be a Stomatella snail, can we get a better description, or a picture?

is it the fuzzys that move back and forth across the spotted shell? ie you can see the shell, then its covered with the fuzzyspikes?

ill try to explain, it has fuzzy spikes on the edge of the shell, its tear drop shaped, with a hump, when i blew it off with a t-baster, i watched for a little and the shell started opening like a clam, the shell is light tanned, really cant tell if theres spots, i dont wanna pull it out of the tank, unless its mean and it moves really slow, looks like its trying to get back to the same spot. sorry if im getting ya confused.

ill bet Wit is right sounds like a cowrie. The animal will come out of the bottom and completely cover the shell. Maybe what you are seeing is the animal retracting slightly exposing the shell. Here's a link to a bunch of cowries, you might try picking him up or distrurbing him to the point he retracts fully into the shell- then look at the pics and see if you can ID him. If it is a cowrie, they are harmless algae eaters to us but may pose "bulldozer" problems in a reef

Way cool link, thanks John. Have not seen a Cowrie on my tank to-date so a great resource!
