| Fire Coral | Silk Tube? I recently purchased a small rock with zoanthids and had to relocate it when my anemone decided to take a walk. When I picked it up, there was a silk-like tube connecting the zo rock and the existing rock. The new rock is about the size of a baseball. The tube connecting the two rocks was about as round as a pencil. The only thing I have seen is a small, black, roundish, fuzzy something living in a hole where the rock had been. it is quick and very sensitive to movement. I am going to look tonight after lights out and see if I can see anything. I also want to see if the silk tube is respun now that it has been moved (whether it is still in the rock or has moved to the existing rockwork). I will follow up with pictures but I need some help taking the photos while I hold the rock up. I also need to get more gloves... I am kind of wigged out to hold the rock not knowing what is inside. I have been very lucky so far and have not had to deal with any bad hitchhikers yet. |

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: Silk Tube? I have some of those too. Can never find anyone at home in them. Wonder if they are the same as the worm tubes I find in the sand as well. 2 clear tentacles. Can't remember the worm species right now.

| Reef Sanctuary's Mr. Wizard ![]() | Re: Silk Tube? Still hard to tell but looks much more like a duster worm tube of some sort rather than a Chaetopterid or even a Spionid as the are really small. The pics do remind of the tube worm Filograna implexa Filograna - Google Image Search

| Fire Coral | Re: Silk Tube? Thanks. It seems like it tries to connect the newer rock to the existing base rock. I haven't seen anything or any harm done to anything... i have gone down late at night to see if i can catch a glimpse of something... nothing. |
