All my hitch hikers - PICS included for identification

I'm consolidating all my threads. Now with pics for all the pests (and pets) I have from my liverock. None of which were added intentionally to the tank. All species centered in pic. Please help me identify them:

Anemone (type?) killed with syringe full of lemon juice to the heart

Red fury Jelly (?) about the size of a dime with single tenticle (white strand in pic) that extends and contracts from nothing to 15" during the night. Tenticle has digits off to one side about 3/4cm apart. Killed this one with lemon juice and by pulling the tenticle from the center with a syringe. I believe there is another one just like it still alive on another piece of rock.

Red crab with black/blue belly. Notice the white tips on his legs. Unknown variety. About the size of a quarter. Eyes stick out away from head (one can be seen just below the body in this pic). No hair that I could see. He is upside down in this pic under a piece of Pukani kind of twisting to look at us. Took this pic this morning. This is only the second time in 5 days that I have seen him.

Gorilla crab I'm fairly sure. Hairy, eyes sunken in head. Size of a golf ball. SOB eluded me today as I tried to prod him out of his cave (after noticing he was starting to pull it apart). He hasn't left his cave in 5 days but likes to stare at me and flip me off. In this pic he is staring to the left.

Hermit crab

White tube with red feathers that come out in light.

Additionally there are a number of amphipods but they don't take pictures well.

And here's a pic of all the liverock that hosted this diverse unexpected ecosystem.

Please help me identify any or all of the above with comments on whether they are good or bad to keep with fish and soft corals.

Thanks. Jeff

Re: All my hitch hikers - PICS included for identification

Most of those pics are farily hard to ID as they are all out of focus but your description does help on some.

#1 cant' tell what kind of anemone it is but may be an Aipatsia

Aiptasia - Google Image Search

#2 A ctenoporan I would guess, also called a "comb Jelly". It did not kill anything.

#3 You can not ID crabs by their feet. You need to see the whole crab

#4 Can not tell anything from that pic

# 5 Same

# 6 Spirorbid tube worms

Spirorbid - Google Image Search

Re: All my hitch hikers - PICS included for identification

If you can take the rock out that the gorilla crab is hanging out in, I would do that. Then you can use soda water in his hole and he will be gone! You could also try attaching a piece of shrimp to a skewer to lure him out and then stab him good with another skewer. Taking the rock out worked for me much quicker than the skewer. He would come out, but dart back in before I could stab him and he was in a part of the tank that was hard to get a good angle for a quick stab. My Palani Tang did enojy the shrimp that eventually came off the stick!

Oh, this sounds so evil - I'm sorry Mr. Monster Crab

Re: All my hitch hikers - PICS included for identification

Thanks for the info so far. Too bad that I killed the comb jelly, but it looks like I have another in the tank. Originally I thought it was a worm and based on the description another fella said it would sting and scar any corals I put in.

I added another pic of the red crab. Unfortunately that's the best focusing I can do with our Kodak P850 (recommendations for camera settings appreciated if anyone has ideas).

That is the correct type of anemone, thanks.

I will give that a shot pulling out the rock to get rid of the gorilla. After he was pulling apart the Pukani yesterday I pretty much took apart my architecture trying to get him out without success.

Most newer cameras have a setting with a "flower" icon. That is for closeups.

swung by the originating reef shop at lunch just now. The red crab is a fiddler crab. They had a couple in another tank and it was the same. Have to add more live rock now so he can get to the surface and get air.

Re: All my hitch hikers - PICS included for identification

Hey, for a change, my evil twin got some right...:P

OP, you have a fiddler crab? or just hermit crabs? NOT the same thing...

As for the ich on the damsel, (which it is what it looks like, but could be something else...better pics needed) the only way to eradicate ich is to catch the damsel, put it in a cycled hospital tank (or a new tank with a cycled filter) for 6 weeks. During that time, you reduce the salinity as measured with a refractometer, NOT a swing-arm hydrometer, to 1.009 and keep it there for the 6 weeks. You have to leave the main tank fallow (no fish of any kind) for that period or else the ich can progress in stages of its life cycle and won't go away.
An alternative to the hyposalinity (1.009) is copper. Best to use chelated copper rather than non-chelated, and follow the directions on the box/bottle VERY carefully. Copper is also toxic to fish in the wrong dosage.

Thanks witty...that's the "something else" I was referring to, but drew a blank on the name...

Congrats on catching the gorilla crab The rock work looks very good.
I agree that that does not look like ICH on the damsel. It might be Lymphocystis. http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/general-reef-aquarium-discussion/10560-lymphocystis.html

It certainly could be lymph from the description in that link. How does Ich differ in appearance. This is primarily on his fins with some between his scales on the body. White rough spots. Difficult to see well as he is always swimming quickly. I currently have him trapped in a glass in the tank with a net over it, as of about an hour ago as I had planned to return him to the reef shop tomorrow so he could go into their quarantine tank while I wait the 6 weeks to clean up my tank.

I got both a blue-legged hermit and a red fiddler crab as hitchhikers on my LR. I rarely see the fiddler as he is nocturnal and hangs out in the pukani rock crevices almost always. I sometimes catch a glimpse of him in the morning before he crawls back in. The hermit crab is pretty much always out cruzing around the sand and rocks.
