need an ID on this little guy please



are these not good for my tank? if not... how do i get them out. i have seen a few here and there... but with that frag plug of zoas... everything is drawn to it...i got about 6-7 of these little guys off of there

also... how can i protect my little zoas(which have NOT opened up yet) from everything pickin at it... the emerald crab(should i just get him out anyways?) and all my little blue legged friends... how can stop them from pickin on the zoas? tia...

looks like some kind of copepod, but size make me think its a amphipod. both are good, can you get a few other shots, maybe in some water and different angles?

as far carbs go i just say no.

no scale to photo....so cant answer. dime,,,,pencil,,eraser...something to judge by~

Looks like an amphipod. They can get up to 1/4" in an aquarium.

They and your crabs are not really picking at your zoantids.
The rock the zoanthids came on has micro algaes on it and these pods and the crabs are just feasting off the algae. Once they clean the rock they wil move on.

i dont have the little bugger to scale it to size... :P... but it was about the size of an eraser in length, maybe a smidge more.

i can try, they are so fast though, and i never know where to expect them... i'll see if they are still hanging around on the plug.

ok, thanks!, i was just worried because they havnt opened yet since i got them and didnt know if they would eat the little buds, this is what it looks like..

How long have you had your zoas?
They can take a couple of day to open after you first add them to your tank.

i got them Friday afternoon. they were packed in a really tiny bag in a really tiny box with some Styrofoam peanuts in it... was NOT impressed by that at all... water was cold... so thats why im worried a bit. i mean, these look like little buds, like seedling to me... lol

You could try a little phyto or cyclopeeze or soem sort of food, see if that gets a couple to poke their heads out... works for my brown ones.

i dont see any eye so i dont think its a isopod, i go with amphipod, too big for a copepod.
