| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: Something HUNGRY in the 14g I would go with the seltzer idea. It's just water with CO2. It's a freshwater dip with bubbles. Eats up the oxygen, monster panicks and comes running out of the rocks into your loving hands. Loving hands wring it's little neck. Assuming it has a neck. Hubby and nano walk into the sunset hand and hand humming a beautiful melody. The End... or is it?

| Fire Coral | Re: Something HUNGRY in the 14g Hi BigAL The wife is always saying I've no morals, it appears I,ve got no S on my keyboard either. I better watch what I am spelling The pipe works as it is dark and a snug fit so the mantis thinks its a safe place. I tried traps, tall glasses, taking rock out and none worked. The first time was an accident I dropped a piece of pipe as I was doing a little plumbing to the tank and it went behind the live rock. I left it in overnight as I could not be bothered to start moving rocks. When I picked the tube out the following morning what a whack I got, if you get hit by one of those things you know about it. Used it ever since. Wish I could sell them.??? |

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: Something HUNGRY in the 14g hmmm. like the fish idea, Jack. BUT.... like Dentoid said, I'm not entirely sure WHAT is in there. I'm currently fighting the king of all stubbornness on taking rock outta the tank to investigate.

But that PVC under the sand might just be doable.... maybe a little smaller if I can find.HHHHMMMMmmmmmm.... off to home depot... ... if this doesn't work, then I'm PMing Jack for a fish sale.

| -CHAUVINIST PIG- | Re: Something HUNGRY in the 14g people never think that mantises are like desirable, but if you get a rare species in your LR, i know people and a scientist who would pay you enough to fund a whole new tank for it. hundres of $$$ if not more. so how much $$$ did you flush? also, keep in mind that these things are very very smart. they're up there with octopus', who are smarter than cats. so they're about the most conscious sentient beigs you can house in a reef tank. so who here goes out and starts poopin off rounds at alley cat, putting them in the freezer, drowning them in soda water etc. i mean killing something should be a last result. its why i still have a damsel in my tank.

| Social Darwinism victim | Re: Something HUNGRY in the 14g Nah, I wouldn't normally resort to killing something... but it took out Scooby and a baby 6-line too!!! Believe me, I try and keep the warm and fuzzies for things that aren't fuzzy too, but this guy is warring in the tank, and if I have to resort to extraordinary measures, I will do what I have to do to save MiniMoe.
