    Red Bubble Algae?

These buggers are stange as hell.. They are a deep purple red. Roughly the size of a pea. The oddest thing is they randomly put out bright neon orange looking leaves. Almost looks like a tiny glowing orange head of lettuce.

I finally tracked down the camera & will try n have a pic up soon.. Stuffs spreading like mad.

    Re: Red Bubble Algae?

I've seen a type of red macroalgae that forms one big bubble, but I don't think it had leaves.
Post a pic when you get a chance. I wanna see too.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

I've been informed by Jack that this lil menace wont be eaten by anything. Apparently the only way to get rid of it is to pull the rock out & bleach it... Bugger..

I'm waiting for a bubble to sprout the orange filaments, for the photo..

How about them pictures? I would like to see what it really is before you go and use something like bleach to kill it! I have to say, boiling it would work just as good and you won't have to worry about chemicals.

    Re: Red Bubble Algae?

I'll post this pic this evening. I've got a car show/BBQ I'm runnin out to atm. THe good news in all of this is it's mainly contained to a large single, easily removed, branch rock. While I do have some straggler colonies, I don't foresee them being an issue. These are quite easy to remove from normal rock it seems. The pitted surface of this large branch coral skeleton makes it impossible to remove w/o cooking or bleaching.
