| Golden Moray | two ID's... First, a small sponge looking critter, but he is no sponge. It kind of looks like a pineapple. White in color, and at night extends into a wormlike creature that is 4 to 6 inches long. When light is shined on it, it retracts in a pulsing manner until it is small again. It is about the size of a pencil eraser when retracted, but gets real skinny when extended. These photos are blurry, but it shows it when in the retracted state. I took about a hundred pics of it, and this is the best one. Is it good or bad? heres the pic : ![]() And another one: ![]() and here is the second one. I have never had these before, but I think I already know what it is.. aptasia? I have two of them aquired on a new mushroom rock: ![]() And here is another pic I just took. I had to post it. I think its the best pic I have ever taken with this camera.. Not a hitchiker, just a new pic: ![]() Thanks in advance for the ID's.. Jason

| Golden Moray | Re: two ID's... Some better pics... This is one of it retracted: ![]() And here is one while it is starting to extend. It will extend 6" or more at it fullest, and looks like a thread with a few knots in it.. but retracts to the size of the pic above during the day.. ![]() I left it by the glass, and after the lights go out I will try to get a pic of it fully extended... Thanks for all the help guys! Hope these pics give a better idea.. Jason

I cannot find a peanut worm that looks anything like this.. All the ones I found pics of are smooth in appearance, and brown. Mine is white, and when extended, looks like a thread with tons of knots tied in it. But it sounds as though a peanut worm acts the same way... but I cannot find anything about them "pulsing" to retract.. Jason

| Golden Moray | Re: two ID's... Got some video. I also have more than one. I counted a total of four in different places in the tank. The first video is of the one pictured above. The focus goes nuts for a second in the video, but then it gets real clear. It retracts near the end of the video. Heres that one: ![]() It is something I have never seen. I tried to look it up, but have no idea where to start. I also saw one attacking a bristle worm with the end of the string thing. At this point I am clueless.. The vids look like something from a monster movie. lol.. Heres vid #2. This one is in a different location, on a different rock between my mushrooms. I just need to know what they are, and if they are good or bad? Thanks again.. ![]() Sorry about the shakyness.. I was holding the flashlight and filming. Jason

| Excellent Guesser :D | Re: two ID's... At first I thought it was just the arm of some kind of brittle star, but the way it retracts has worm written all over it. I definitely like the video identification. I'm going to start asking for vids instead of pics. p.s.- he didn't seem to like the movie sound affects.
