Question Im so a Newbie! Need an ID

So yeah im new to this whole thing
I have these things growing on my rock...i put the rock in dead into my tank a while ago. I just added a few pieces of live rock about 2 days ago. But this growth has been there even b4 i added the live rock...

I have the same thing that grew on a peice of dead coral. At RC, they also said sponge.

the thing is its like on most of all my dead rocks...
hmm so I guess I have spongy rocks...i will be taking pics as it grows just to see a before and after shot of it...

lol ...yayy my rocks are SOFTTT.
I just wanted to make sure it wasnt anything like threatening to my tank. Don't want some things growing out of the rock, crawling into the room, and wrapping its tentacle like arms around me. **SCARY THOUGHT**

Welcome to RS Vamp. Just wait till you see what grows in there! I remember my fist rock and i stared at it for over a month before i bought more (lived in NY live rock=$$$$$!) I was amazed at the life it had.
BTW, great pictures you took there!

Hi Frankie thanks for welcoming me to RS
lol...yeah I got the stare fever too!! When I first put the rock in I was like...this is boring..dead rock is boring. But now im like what the heckkkkk is this growing on my rock, so I like wake up super happy and run to my tank to see if more has grown on my rock. Its like CHRISTMAS MORNING every morning now lol.

Thanks for the info Boomer, I am gonna check out some info about the Leucon sponge.

I also have a confession to make, I am a newb as well.
When I first set up my tank, I was so freakin paranoid about everything I did, saw, and what happened. Stressful times those were.
I have learned to relax a bit, let nature take its course, and research as much as possible.
It makes the experience more enjoyable for me.
Also, I have the same growths on my rocks. That sounded funny... but it's true.
