I also believe in adding no chems to the tank Cos.

I have not found out yet what is in it. It may be just a Euro drug. 1 hit on Google's, the info site I posted. I may have to ask Randy, he has one of those pricy programs as does Hab , SCi-Find or something like that, which is a few hundred dollars a month.

Did you catch this from Mike;

There have been some recent developments regarding Convolutriloba in aquaria - specifically two antihelminth drugs have been released, which can be used to destroy these worms with 'fairly' mild repercussions to fish and corals

Cosmic,

I've never seen flat worms in my tank and I have a Halichoeres crysalis, beautiful yellow with irridescent orange lateral head markings. I don't know if this is coincidental, but I thought I would pass the information on.

Even if it doesn't eradicate your flatworms it would be a great addition to your reefscape. But if it would rid you of those orange little buggers you would have a double win, eh?

I never had a problem either for 5 years, then all of a sudden I'm flooded with them! They appeared very shortly after tearing down my reef to replace the aquarium, and I haven't been able to get rid of them since.

Boomer,
Yes, I DID see the "FAIRLY" mild reprecussions. With any hope it won't come down to that, but I'm getting close to the end of my patience with these things now....

I remember Mojoreef stating that he tried removing them by feeding heavy, heavier, heaviest, and then starve the tank to remove the food source of a greatly increased colony of worms. Limited success from what I recall, but I'm more worried about my fish than those flatworms to try this approach. When up against this or chemicals though....Hmmmm.

Food for thought,
Cos

A friend of mine was successful with a Melanrus Wrasse. However, they have their own set of issues as well.

I'd like to mention that it's only been a few weeks since I introduced the H. chyrsus to my tank, and I have already noticed a 50% or more decrease in planaria!

I have not started doing anything different to the tank, only doing one water change since adding (3 weeks ago now, water change due today hopefully). Feeding is the same few times a week, topoffs occurring the same also.

The single water change was a day after the fish was introduced, in order to thin out the red planaria population. Since then, they have not even been very noticeable whereas before they overran 75% of the tank's surfaces. After a 2 week time period, about all you were able to see were flatworms.

I have to admit I was super skeptical that the H crysus would be of much help, but I have a renewed outlook on them now! WOW.
