| Golden Moray | Hitchiker coral?? I know I posted about this in another thread, but I fragged my zoas, to expose some little "fingers" I saw poking out of it. I am pretty sure they are Xena.. What do you guys think? And the last pic is of my clowns. I was reading that the true perc has more vibrant colors than the false. I was noticing that my female appears to be a false, and the smaller male, a true.. what do you think? ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks in advance.. Jason |

| Golden Moray | Re: Hitchiker coral?? yeah, the local LFS.. j/k... nah, I never asked him where it came from. It has hardlike tubes that the polyps retract into at night, or when disturbed. I had no idea it was on the rock, I bought it as a zoa colony. All the hard tubes are kind of attached to each other. I am thinking of ridding the frag of all the zoas, but I hated to cut them off... The section of the colony came off real easy with a hammer and chisel, and when I was done, you couldnt even tell I had removed part of the Zoa's rock.. Jason |

| Smilie Bartender ![]() | Re: Hitchiker coral?? Judging by the retracting polyps, my money would be on this being clavularia, AKA waving hand polyps.

| Golden Moray | Re: Hitchiker coral?? After doing a little internet research, I believe you are right travis.. I think it is a small clavularia colony. The Xena cannot retract, and the anthelia can only partially retract. I love the look of it, but from everything I have read, they could cause an over population smothering out other corals. I will have to make sure I give it plenty of room, and frag it if it gets too big.. Thanks again guys. I am becoming addicted to this site as much as I am to my tank..oh yeah, does anyone agree it looks like I have a true perc, and a false, and not a true pair? Jason |

| Reef Shark ![]() | Re: Hitchiker coral?? The bit about the hard tubes and retracting polyps definitely take it out of the xenid category...
