The white tip was probably one of your tank inhabitants that picked the algae off of it. SPS corals are extremely sensitive and need perfect water conditions, intense lighting and moderate to high water flow depending on species. They do better in a well established tank. Anyone considering SPS should really do research before attempting to keep them. | |

| Golden Moray | Re: Please ID these pics The calcium skeleton helps to buffer your water. Those skeletons are also good place for copeopods to hang out on and potentially provide your seahorses with grub. |

| Elegance coral | Re: Please ID these pics That second one looks like a type of hydroid. If it looks like a small brown flower attached to another small brown flower by a tiny thread, then try and get rid of it. It looks like it's only that SPS skeleton... if it is, then trash the whole thing. They spread like wildfire.

Yes it is bad for your ponies (along with all other anemones) if they get stung repeatedly. Yes it is considered a pest because it will quickly take over the tank. Finally, maybe the peppermint shrimp will eat it. It depends on the shrimp. I have watched my peppermint eat aiptasia in my reef, but the peppermint I have in my pony tank wouldn't touch it. If the shrimp does not take care of the aiptasia then try Joe's Juice. It worked great.
