Re: Hitchhiking anemone (not aiptasia)

as far as the bulb issue, i have some large large ricordia yumas that get bulbs on the tips of their tentacles, so that's not a definitive indicator.

Re: Hitchhiking anemone (not aiptasia)

I am not positive, i said i was 90% positive. I'm not here to argue with anyone and will not do so. But with 5yrs working at a lfs and spending alot of times at a wholesaler, to me the anemone looks to be a bta. When they get a new picture of it, we will see.

Re: Hitchhiking anemone (not aiptasia)

You are guessing and it has nothing to do with what it looks like. There is NOTHING in those pics that ID it as BTA....period. You send those pics to Daphne Duun Fautin, the worlds leading expert on anemone ID, +30 years of ID anemones and she will tell you flat out you can not tell what kind of anemone it is, if it is an anemone. Want her e-mail address ? I know what her answer will be, as I have done it before with much better pics of anemones.

Don't be giving us that 5 years LFS stuff. I have been at this game for 40 years and not just as hobbist.

And I don't care if it ends up being a BTA, you can not tell from those pics ....period. You're guessing and people guess all the time. Just because someone guesses right does not mean they know what they are talking about or they have some master skill at ID'ing.

This is not an arguement it is a debate based on facts, they are not the same.

Re: Hitchhiking anemone (not aiptasia)

I don't know what your problem is, all i stated was my opinion and you are giving me all of this bs. What kind of community is that. Like i said in my post, it was jmo. I also said we cannot be sure, no one can, without better pictures of the base and mouth. I just stated what my guess was, and also said i am not expert. Giving me all this bull crap about my somewhat educated guess is b.s. Period. I just joined this site, am a member on alot of other sites, and i have never been so flamed about stating my opinion in my life.

Everybody play nice now please. We all have our opinions and one thing you all seem to agree on is that you are not certain. Let's leave it at that. This is Reef SANCTUARY after all.
Just my 2c and I of course have no idea on the original question. I just want everybody to play nice.

Re: Hitchhiking anemone (not aiptasia)

Ah, I see you have stooped to name calling, now that gets you points.

Please go back and read my first reply, then read your reply to me and your replies to others. Those are pretty bold statements to make. You dug your own hole. I did not dig it for you, I just replied. "Flamed", looks like you started that.

If you are no expert, as claimed, then don't be giving me or others lessons on what it is or isn't as if you are. Your guess is not educated at all. If an expert can't tell what makes you think you can ?

That is correct an opinon and it is my right to debated that opinon and my right to defend my opinion......correct. An opinion does not make one correct. Lots of so called opinons are BS, if you know the facts.

I have some better pictures. Unfortunately, I am having internet problems at home. Hopefully I will have some pics posted in the next couple of days.

More pics. Better quality, but I can't get anything other than the tentacles. He keeps his body covered.
