I thought the teeth/slats on the overflow was to prevent unwanted critters from getting in and plugging up the drain. Though I've read posts that it doesn't always work.

My overflows are 'toothed'.. I thought they all were supposed to be...

from how i see the drawing, he has the returns going through the inserts,,,has me still confused as to why~~

I think "Return Hole" should read Intake and "Intake Hole" should read Return.
I got the picture.... then I had to go back to see what Wittys confusions was, it's in the labeling.

Updates!

Well I am making some progress and I have to thank Kim for that!

She did a marvolous job of cutting plexi for me for my overflow and for my sump! Thanks again Kim! I have to mount all the pieces, seal it and drill some holes.

I have also acquired some pvc and fitting for nothing. My mother was selling her house and my dad had a bunch of new pvc and fittings he had as spares for the spinkler system left in the garage. Free is always good!

I'm not an overflow expert by any means but that overflow looks a bit small for that sized tank. Isn't there a calcultor that can determine the size an overflow should be per tank size?

I know your getting ready to drill the bottom of your tank.
Here is a fantastic link to Durso Standpipes.
I think you’ll be ok with the size of the overflow compartment. 1 1/4" is the diameter of the PVC being used in the above mentioned instructions.
Hey, It doesn't have to be perfect.
I find if I lay everything out before cutting, glueing and moving on to the next project involved in the sump creation, Everything fits together pretty well. Or at least I dont have to scrap everything and start over again.

DIY mantra...Lay it out first.
Keep us posted on your ideas and progress
