Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

We drove over to Dr Mac and Sons today near the Eastern Shore and picked up some LS, Rock Rubble and Chaeto for our Refugium. We also picked up a couple of corals. Star Polyps and zoas.
This place has the largest selection of corals I have ever seen!
I'll post pics when everything settles down and opens up.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Actually, I'm still going by their old name. Dr. Mac and Sons. They are now called PacificEast Aquaculture. They are one of our sponsors.

We got our refugium up and running this past weekend. Here's a quick pic of that. Not a great pic but it'll do.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Mark bought an under the cabinet type of lighting fixture. It has 3 regular fluorescents. He had read that it would be okay for the chaeto as far as lighting goes. Do you think that's okay or should we get better lighting?

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Here are a couple of new pics.
First one is of our New Kalk reactor just installed last night and ready for operation today. For the last few days I've been working on getting our Calcium up a little. Plan on testing this morning and seeing where it is. On the 6th is was 370 and I would like to see it higher. I also plan on testing newly made saltwater just to see where the numbers are on that. I really can't recall if we have ever checked that.

Found out yesterday afternoon that our heater may not be working as well as it should be or we need a new thermometer. The heater was set at 76-78 and the thermometer was reading 68.
This may be why my new star polyps and zoas won't open?

Plan on heading over to the LFS today and purchasing a new heater along with a new thermomter.

Second pic is just a full tank shot.

Could definitely be that. I'm very surprised that even with your lighting the temp would go down that far !

BTW the tank is lookin great love the scape !

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

I really like the latest full tank shot. very nice aquascape. The openess will be a great asset long term and also help for great circulation. very nice already. The kalk reactor is the one I chose also, good choice. let us know how you like it. It is not designed to be connected for auto makeup from an r/o system but will work nicely on an automatic makeup from a doser which im planning to do with the aquamedic. naturally timers ect. anyways very nice congrats on a 5 star system already. waiting to see progress with animals.
