Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Got home from work yesterday and found our CCB stuck to the pipe that suctions water out of the tank for the cloosed loop!

We had drilled 60 large holes in that pipe do try and avoid just a situation!
Needless to say I was PO'd!

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Sorry to hear about the loss, I too just recently lost my CBB. He was all fat, happy and eating, and then went on a hunger strike. So I feel your pain.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Looks like it will be a great set up, congratulations.... I have my 75 gal. On a plywood stand also, I wanted to be able to move the system away from the wall and maintenance the backside (canister filters, wet/dry and HOB refugium). So I used 1" oak ply and mounted four heavy duty ball bearing casters (450 lb load each) and then skirted it with the same ply to hide the wheels.... its been working great for over a year, and with care the tank is semi-mobile.
P.S. I just posted pics of my tank today.

My sincerest condolances Gina! Leopard Wrasses and CBB, as well as others, are truly tough fish to acclimate to our hobby.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

It stinks to lose nice looking fish like that. I also lost one. It just never ate at feeding time. 2 weeks then flat on the bottom. It looked healthy and bright. I watched him at the LFS for a good 10 days before buying him. I spent 1 hr to acclimated him to the tank.

Sorry

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

The loss wasn't because he wasn't eating, he was stuck to the tube inside the tank that sucks water to the cloosed loop.

Mark thought that he had drilled enough holes that the suction wouldn't be too strong but, we are going to have to drill or cut more. I even thought about putting something around the tube like a cage, maybe that would help.
We don't want any more fish caught on it.

Thanks for all the kind words! It's appreciated.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

This is the tube. Sorry about the flash. The CCB was a small one and had gotten behind the tube in the corner. At least that where we had found him stuck. I'm thinking maybe slats down the length of the tube would be better than holes. What do you guys think?

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Just read your thread. congrats on your new system and the successes, and really too bad on the losses. If you still have that stool, put a small pump in and direct the water movement just above the coral. do not direct it directly on it but just above and that should help. same with the tree. move water just next to it but not directly at it and the increased water movement will assist in waxing off of the softies and help them recover. good luck. great new system.
