I hope your toadstool pulls through. Maybe something nearby is irritating it?

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

There is nothing close to it. It hasn't really done all that well since the change.
Now it just droops and is turning a green color. I'm seriously thinking of taking it out today but, the thought that it might pull through is what is stopping me.
I just don't want to wait too long. I know it is still alive at this point.

The other corals that are in the tank right now are some zoas, mushrooms and rics.
None of which are near one another.

I just think it was too much for it. Taking it from a stable environment tossing it in a temp and then into our new tank. We have never had any problems with this coral from the day we got it.

I know I just don't want to wait too long if in fact it is dying. I had a anemone die on me when we first started and it polluted the tank so bad, it was months before we got things back to normal. Don't want to go through that again.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Can you inspect it thoroughly for any dark spots? As long as there aren't any mushy soft spots it will be fine. Leathers are a bit sensitive to lighting and temp changes.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Gina, FWIW, we have been watching our Kenya Tree slowly wilt and decay. Pieces of it have fallen off (not in the reproductive way - literally chunks have decayed and fallen away). It has been totally limp and lifeless. Hoping against hope I have left it in the tank, simply trying to maintain water quality and flow. This has been for about five days or more. As of yesterday what is left of it (the main stalk) has perked up again, is standing tall and some of if opended up a bit. This morning it looks better as well. It is about 1/4 its previous self.

I have no idea why it went south and now why it seems to be in recovery. But had I taken it out of the tank when I really felt all was lost - I would have perhaps cut it short.

It has been hard to watch, but I think we may be back on track.

Good luck.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

That's why I haven't pulled it yet. Actually, Mark and I have disagreed on this one. He wants me to leave it and I wanted to pull it. But, just in case.....as you can see, it's still in the tank.

We'll see what happens. It would fantastic if it turned around. I have had this coral for about 2 1/2 years now.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

I would increase the flow a bit and dose iodide for a few weeks. Keep us posted Gina!

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Good luck Gina. It looks slightly necrotic around one of the edges. I had a yellow toadstool bout 6 mo. ago, it was fine and then one day, it started to droop and wouldn't extend its polyps, finally it started spewing toxic threads. I had to take it out of my tank for the sake of the other inhabitants, it was a hard decision for me since i didn't have a QT tank. Fortunately I found someone who had one and I didn't have to toss it in the trash....which what was causing me grief.

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Finally finished the sump last night.
Right now, Mark is modifying the plumbing (inbetween watching Shark Tails on HBO) to fit over the new sump.

Will post the final pics when finished. Until then, here is our new sump along with a couple of inspectors!

Re: Gina and Mark's New 75 Gallon.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!
We've learned alot since we set up our first one and are trying to make this tank as maintenence free as possible and having everything readily accessible.
Our wiring is even tagged as to what it controls.
