That's kind of how I see my islands...attempts, lol. I worked the best with what I have, and I may eventually throw some more rock into the mix, but not for the time being, right now I would rather spend my money on stocking the tank.

I'll try to get some shots up later tonight if the camera is all charged up.

Update Again

Just fiddlin' with the tank again today, and noticed that I have quite a few little feather dusters growing about on my rocks, in one spot there are four mini dusters that really seem to enjoy their placement in the tank, and have made a little colony. I love watching each day for new things to emerge

Sump is still not up and running like planned, but hopefully soon, still need to buy and plumb the PVC also, so hopefully in the coming week.

I've been fighting a case of green algae that stays on the glass and a bit on the surface of the water, I know running my skimmer and sump would help, but I have no options for the time being. The new MH lighting has been making the green algae come back each day, and each day I have to manually skim the surface, and wipe down the glass.

Payday this week, so hopefully that means my school of 4 Lyretails for Friday since I'll actually have it off!

Camera is currently charging, I'll definitely have pics up on Friday however!

Did my weekly water change today, took out around 12 gallons, and then tested my levels an hour later just for curiousity-sake and they were the same as always:

salinity 1.025
temp 80-82
pH 8.2
Amm. 0
trites 0
trates 0
KH 120
Ca 450

Also found out tonight that Petco is good for something.... making free algae scrapers (Petco PALS card) lol, it works great for scraping green algae off the glass.

With my paycheck today I decided to splurge a little, I ordered some livestock from Marine Depot Live. Here's what's coming to me:

5x Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)If they look anything like the picture I'll be very impressed!
2x Sexy Shrimp
1x Pink/Red Ricordia Polyp
1x Short tentacle plate coral

I know I said earlier in the thread that I was only going with 3 or 4 anthias, but I've decided that I would get 5 and drop the decision to keep two tangs. Here's about what my fish stocking list will look like.

2x True Percula Clownfish
1x Rainfords Goby
5x Lyretail Anthias
1x Swallowtail Angelfish
1x Kole Tang

So now I can't wait until Friday so I can show you all pictures of what I've received! Plus now the tank is all sparkling clean from my water change.

Update for 7-16-05

Received my livestock order so I spent most of the morning yesterday acclimating. I was very pleased with my order from MDL and will probably place future orders through them. The only thing that did not make it was one of my sexy shrimp, it molted in my tank sometime today, and I caught it being preyed upon by a hermit crab, so that was quite unfortunate. But on the bright side, I fed the tank tonight and I saw all of the anthias munching on cyclopeeze.

So what is new today:
5 female lyretail anthias
1 sexy shrimp
1 purple rimmed plate coral
1 ricordia rock (2 shrooms)

Here's what you've all been waiting for, drumroll please...............

some actinic shots:

and some tank shots:

Beautiful Anthias! They are fast!.... you gotta use the action setting on your camera, I know!
What size grain sand do you have?

Thanks Kim! Yeah those shots that I posted were on action, but they were still too fast for my camera, I guess I have to play around with the manual settings a little more. My sand is "Fiji Pink" at 0.5-1mm if I remember correctly.

Thanks cheeks, and you are correct, all females. I read one of the links that someone left or that I dug up somewhere that there isn't any real advantage to keeping one male to a harem, because with all females eventually the dominant female will become male. Also I heard there are less aggression problems with the females. I fed my tank cyclopeeze yesterday and mysis today, as soon as the cyclopeeze hit the water they were eagerly eating it up, which I thought was odd for newly acclimated fish. I noticed yesterday that there were two of the females in particular displaying shaking motions towards each other, so they must be the top females in their new heirarchy. But today everything has cooled down and they all swim about together again.
