you know.... a buddy of mine just got a FO tank, and he loves his LCD therm. youll love it too, i bet. I personally use the titanium heater, and I love it. in an acrylic tank it may not be so great, but hey... a sump.... dont worry 'bout it. Ill have to start my own chronicle when i up to my 75.

Can't wait to see your chronicle, it will be nice to see how someone else is doing things in the same size tank.

I have the Seio 620 and 1100 with a Mag 12 and I get alot of flow about 29x turnover rate in my tank but I do have to deflect the flow away from the LPS as they won't open up fully with that much flow, it's possible that in time they will adjust but ou'll have to keep an eye on them.

I really like the Seio but one problem I've had with the the Seio the 1100 in particular is that sometimes it won't turn on unless I bang it around a bit which is a real PITA.

My SEIO is pumping qute well currently. I never thought about too much flow for LPS but it makes sense. When the rock is in I will aim it more behind, and sort of to the surface so any LPS will get indirect flow, but mainly I was to keep only a few LPS, and mostly zoos and SPS. I know the SPS will like the heavy flow. But if it's too much, I may just cut it back to the lone SEIO 1500 and maybe a Maxi 1200.

We'll see how it goes, I still have time to tinker.

And what would that do to help the pump?

Nice Job JK, sounds like your doin it well. I like the layout you have goin, do you know where Blaine is? That is where i was before i joined the military! Anyways, two things: You already know this but if you want more than 2 clowns in your tank, you should def get 4, 3 is a bad number. And 2nd, i cant believe no one has bugged you for an updated tank pic? Lets see it!

Hey Jiddy, yeah I know where Blaine is, haven't been there, but I know it's whereabouts.

The clown thing is something I've been thinking alot about, and have been reading about even more. I've read that in some cases it can work, but sometimes it fails horribly. So in that case, I've decided to go back and rework my fish lists..again. But what I did this time around instead of saying which fish that I will get, I made a list of all of the possiblities that I think would work well.

For Example:
2x True Percula Clowns (Amphiprion percula)
or
2x Pink Skunk Clowns (Amphiprion perideraion)
or
2x Black Percula Clowns (Amphiprion ocellaris var.)
or
1x True Percula Clownfish and 1x Black Percula Clownfish

Something along those lines, I've made lists like that for the anthias that I'm thinking about aswell as Tangs/Surgeonfish, Angelfish and then just a list of "others". I don't really want a large group of clowns anymore, I've decided to have a grouping of 4 to 5 anthias. I know you all are thinking right now, that's a lot of fish in a 75, but I've planned for several ways of filtration, and nutrient export, but also keep in mind, there will most likely be another tank in the picture somewhere along the line.

But what I may do after this 75 project is set up, is start setting up a tank for the type of clownfish that I don't put in my 75. Ultimately I think it would be grand if I could have mated pairs of several types of clowns in different tanks, to raise the fry, sell online, or be the supplier to the LFS I work at.

If you all can wait a couple of days I'll actually have something for you to look at. ie. livesand, liverock, lcd heater, and salt mixing fun! Don't worry, there will be a plethera of pictures coming.

I also use vinegar to clean the salt creep off of my bulbs (when they are cool of course).

Update finally...

Sorry I haven't updated in a while work has been keeping me busy. But really I don't mind, because it's helping me progress things with my tank a lot faster.

This week I purchased a 20L All Glass tank for my future sump, that I will most likely be working on this weekend. My heater also arrived several days ago, and it's working flawlessly.

Today I ordered the first 45lbs. of my Fiji Liverock from Reefer Madness . I kind of want to see how their stuff looks before ordering the whole shabang, and to see if i'll even want 90lbs in my tank. My initial thought was if I start to keep SPS corals it will give them more room to grow and thrive, which is what I want. Well that, and more open room for my fish to swim.

The next decision that I have to make however is what to purchase next. I just got my paycheck and I still need my lights, skimmer, return pump, and hang on overflow, and of course the possible remaining 45lbs of rock. Personally I was thinking of using the money to buy the nicest skimmer I can since I may be stocking my tank a little heavy fish-wise. I am looking at the ASM G1-X. Only problem with buying that is that I can't use it right away because my sump isn't set up. I still need the overflow, and return pump. So it may be out of commision for a while. But at least it will be in use later, right?

But really I don't need the skimmer running during the cycle, do I?

So in the next couple of weeks I hope to have the bulk of the work done, so as I promised I'll post some updated pictures. I'm too tired to do it tonight, and I have to work in the morning, so I'll get around to it tomorrow night.

Oh also, if anyone has any Hang-on overflows, or old return pumps that they don't want, send a PM this way. I'm always looking for a bargain.

Hey JK! Since your still holdin out on the pics im goin to be mean, -jk-. But you say your thinkin of keepin a heavy bio-load with a 75g? You may want to upgrade the skimmer selection to an ASM G-3. It will be a little much for your tank, but not to bad if you have a heavy bio-load. Plus then you can have it incase you ever upgrade also. I will be keepin 2 ASM G3's in my 220g because they are the best-for-buck skimmers i can find!

Hey Jiddy,

Yeah I'll have to think about that one, I found a site with a Mag 7 pump for $30 cheaper, and the G2 is only $30 more than the G1-X, so it's a possibility.

My "heavy bioload" some might not consider heavy, but with 8-9 fish I definitely would (All depends on which fish I ultimately choose)...but I figured for a reef I would want as many ways for nutrient export as possible i.e. heavy skimming, LR, LS, Macro, and possibly mangroves. Keep in mind that with the new sump the total water volume will actually be around 90+ gallons.

I'll still think on the G2, if but I'll let you all know...most likely by tomorrow, because I'll probably order it, and my overflow so I can start some plumbing this weekend.

Pictures later today,yous waits...
