Re: JKreef's 75 Gallon Project

Thanks Jiddy, and Craig!

Oh I see I did forget to post the full tank shot...I had tank shots but not THE full tank shot...coming right up!

My little Rainsford is one of my favorites in the tank, and he's very photogenic.

Here it tis... Plenty of room for corals to be added, and the current few to grow.

i say this as my best advice to a beginner. do not,,,and i repeat,,,,,DO NOT look at my tank as an example....i have a well practised eye, decades of experience, and a trunkload of failures to allow me to force the issue and get away with things most cannot~

Thanks, I think it gives it a nice touch also. The program I'm using as a demo is called idFramer, it's really simple to use.

Re: JKreef's 75 Gallon Project

Well I figured it was time for a little update.

Good news is that all of my corals are doing great in the tank, and like the fact that I've just let it alone to mature. The only thing I've done recently was adding two Sally Lightfoot crabs to help take care of some diatom. I've cut back my lighting cycle to 10 hours to help with algae blooms as well.

Bad news, yesterday I found one of my female lyretail athias dead... and another is missing. The odd part is the water params are fine, I tested everything, and they are all stable with my log...the fish were not thinned out or malnourished by any means, and there weren't signs of disease. The only thing I can think of is that the most dominant female killed off the two competitors, I had seen her lock jaws occasionally with a few of the group but it was never anything major...

Unless it was my LTA that got the best of the missing anthias. They like to perch throughout the tank, and they have been very near the LTA before...

I'm not sure what caused the deaths, but I knew that it was always a possibility that the dominant female would kill some of the other females...

I'm going to do several small water changes this week to keep the levels stable, and try to hunt for the missing body. Water quality is still top par, and all of the corals are doing great.

Re: JKreef's 75 Gallon Project

Thanks Woody, it was quite sad...but as long as nothing is wrong with the rest I think I'll be okay, I knew the possibility was there for the dominant female to go on a rampage.
