New 240 Tank

Well All,
I have done most of my reasearch and done some ordering. I am going to try to keep this thread updated with my progress. The tank is a 240 Tall from tenecor (96" long X 18" wide X 30" tall), I ordered it with the reef system and the RedSea Protien skimmer package (not sure this skimmer is the best but we'll see). I ordered some base rock (120 lbs) from Captian Jer at reefer rocks.com ( http://www.reeferrocks.com/baserock/index.htm ) and received the shipment today and I must say I'm impressed, very nice large pieces here. I also have ordered some of my lighting, I have 8 54 watt T5's, 4 blue plus and 4 6000k sun with IceCap 660 ballasts (lights from www.reefgeek.com). I have received my test kits as well all seifert. I picked up sand and salt here locally, I'm going with a mix on the sand (40 lbs crushed Tampa reef coral and 120 lbs of aggrogate) this should give me about a 2 inch sand bed. I have chosen IO for my salt (2 - 5 gallon buckets at 160 gallons of water each). For water I picked up a typhoon III 5 stage, not sure if I want to start filling 55 gallon rubber trach buckets or not, if I don't it's going to take me about 4 days to gill this tank and sump (75 gallons a day thru the RO/DI unit).
For the last two weekends we painted the room where the tank will go so I'm all prepaired for it to arrive (only 2 LONG weeks) it should be here friday the 22nd and I can't hardly wait.

Well that's all for now, I'm going to go play with my lights and try to figure out how I'm going to mount them to the Acrylic Hook.

Dave

Sweet! Don't forget to take pics. And I'm sure that a mod will move the thread for you.

Holly snikes... those pics are big... maybe I'll tone them down a bit next time...

We'll wait for the tank pics to get large with them...

Sorry

Nice room. Great color scheme. Your tank is going to look sweet in there.

You have any pictures of your stand and canopy??

Can't wait to see it when it arrives!
I never would of thought of grey for wall paint.
I really like it though, to me it gives off a warm feeling.

congratulations on your new tank Dave, can't wait to see it come together!
on the ro/di water it may take closer to seven days, when I set my 210 it took seven days running the unit nonstop and I have a 60 gal. a day unit.
