If you insist on getting hermits (insert Witfull's Crabs are Evil motto), go with the scarlets, they are much less aggressive than the others!

Woodstock, what else would work well as part of the cleanup crew other than hermits and snails? I already have snails and they do not seem to be taking care of the sand bed like I had hoped, also I really don't want anything that would knock over rock. I don't insist on hermits and I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Fighting conchs, nassarius and cerith snails all do a great job cleaning the sand bed and turning it over.

I agree with Doni on her recomendations!

Astrea snails also are a nice addition for cleaning rocks and glass.

Make sure you get SCARLET hermits! Red legs are often confued with scarlets but are just as aggressive as blue legs. When small red and blue legge hermits are good algeavores but as they mature they will attack snails and scarlets.

The sand is just CaribSea SeaFlor Super Reef Sand and I got it at a LFS here in Tampa.
Not real sure about the bio load at this point, only thing I'd like to keep in the tank that I have seen thus far is a Blue Tang, Yellowhead Jawfish (super cool), Mandrin Goby (about a year away) maybe a 6 line wrasse, and a couple more clowns. I need some more clean up crew like Astrea Snails, some peppermint shrimp and a banded coral shrimp, maybe a nudibranch and others that I may see, like and will go with everyone else in the tank.
I'd like to try a SPS or two, maybe an anemone or two and a few polyps.

I just don't want it too busy or crowded but enough to look at. I look at this as my living picture, something to look at, discover and learn from and watch things grow.

I'm still doing reasearch on what I want, what it takes to keep them, etc, etc....

Quick question all, I found a very tiny clear anemone in the tank today, to small to really get a pic of yet, but is seems to be growing so as soon as it get's a little larger I snap one and post it. But question is, what kind of anemone would come in on live rock from TBS? and is it something I may have to be concerned with? Also is there anything that eats green hair alge, I may have some started and want to stay on top of it before it get out of controll.

I've had peppermint shrimp attack a BTA and have seen CBS that are very aggressive. I only would have Red Skunk Cleaner Shrimp as they are the least aggressive ornamental cleaner shrimp.

Thanks Craig for the info. I do have a cleaner shrimp in the tank now, odd little fellow, he likes to dance (sway) for the fish and for us when we are looking at him. Last night we where looking into the tank and he was out and about. Well if you looked long enough the little guy would swim right to the glass at you and try to clean you (hahahaha) of course once he bumped into the side of the tank he would just swim back and dance some more. I think he is lonley and needs a fish to clean, the two tank raised ocellarius clowns I have don't even pay any attention to him yet and not sure if they will.

The anemone is growing slowly but he is there, not sure what kind it is at this point but we will see. It's translucent almost clear right now very hard to see but getting bigger everyday. It came in on the rock so I'm half tempted to say it's a tiny aiptasia or a Curley Cue as they say on the TBS site, I am hoping it's a Condylactis Blue or a White Condylactis but we will see.
