Ok, I am seeing something here and I was not expecting it, but my cleaner shrimp and the sebae anemone seem to have a symbiotic relationship. The shrimp hangs out around and in the anemone without issue and he also seems to chase away anything that comes near it. Is this a normal response?

My fireshrimp molts every two weeks also. I thought they molted as they grow...but, heck..that would make my shrimp a lobster by now.

Kim, thanks... wasn't expecting these two to pair up but hey I'll take it.
They tell me this a White Sebae Anemone, this one has a lime green body, white tenticals with purple tips.

I concur, bleaching is a very common practice with Sabea anemones.

Yes I agree had one just like it and it recovered just make sure you feed it weekly and that it gets good light and flow and hopefully it'll recover it's photosynthetic ability. Have you touched the anemone and noticed any response and is it sticky ?

Cheeks, when I put him in the tank he looked the same way and yes he was very sticky. I am feeding him at least every other day at this point should I feed more or is this too much?

One other thing, you guys ever see a sea cucumber shed? Like shed it's skin like a snake would? Mine started doing this last night and is still shedding this morning... weird.

Thanks

Thanks
The fact that it's still sticky is a good sign, feeding every other day IMO would be too much, 2 to 3 times a week should suffice until he gets some color then once a week with good lighting will be all they need.

Here's a quote from Robert Fenner:

Quote:
Underfeed, underfeed, don't feed! Underfeed, underfeed, don't feed! Most losses in captive systems are the result of over-feeding. How many more times do I feel I need to write this? Bunches! Some anemones have been kept for YEARS without any intentional external feeding. Know your stock! Many anemones (especially larger species) are detritivorous (a polite term meaning they eat poop), planktivorous, and largely chemoautotrophic/photosynthesizing species/individuals that hobbyists try to over-stuff with meaty/prepared foods. My bid for largest cause of loss of anemones is the consequences (lack of oxygen, hydrogen and other sulfide production...) from over-feeding. Cut it out! Within normal temperatures and other conditions, most can and do do well on weekly feedings. If you're going on vacation, leave them alone.

Thanks for the info Cheeks, how long do you think before the anemone would start showing some natural color?

Warn, I have the SAME exact anemone... mine turned a burly tannish color in about a month, as well as it grew like mad. got it about 3", not its about 8". my cleaner shrimps molt almost every other week as well, and they havg around the anemone because it knows it grabs food floating around so it doesnt have to. be careful of this, unless you are spot feedingt the anemone. mine would have eventually starved had I not started spot feeding the poor thing. (thanks peppermint shrimp). also, it may take a while for the clowns to host in your anemone. mine have been around my anemone for about 3 months or so, and they are barely starting to hang out around it. best of luck!!!
