Talking A 55g update from Casa de Tomas....

Hi Folks!

Well, here is an update on my 55g.

I moved a LOT of stuff over to the tank and moved the 10g down into the bottom part of the stand.... But, wouldn't ya know it-- another snag in my plans!! The 10g wouldnt go through the openings far enough for me to turn the tank around... so, now it sticks 1/4 the way out the bottom of the stand! Doh! Ah well, the tank is here to function as a home for my reef dwellers, not to win any awards! So, here are some pics of the 55 as it sits now. The corals have REALLY taken to the tank and look amazing! I am very surprised how everything, fish and all, seem so much happier!

NOTE: the white "Dots" and "Streaks" you see in the pics are bubbles in my water passing by. I havent quite gotten the hang of the shutter speed with this camera. It seems like a fixed shutter speed when you have the flash off.

And, YES, the Diatoms are here for their new tank visit! Time for a cleaning crew!!

Put a rock, with a couple Rics on it, in the tank earlier this evening because I want the Rics to be in both tanks.

Here is the pic:

Thanks Doni!

They weren't even open fully because they just got moved.

The bottom one is a little bigger than a silver dollar when fully open. Originally, I found that Ric in some live sand I got from Reeflady's refugium! It was 1/4 the size of a DIME when I first found it. It glowed so pretty even at that small size! So, I set it on top of that rock (in June '04) and the rest is history!

Yeah, Rics are a blast! I hope I can get mine to multiply!

I was looking in my tank this morning and I noticed something odd. On a good note, the Diatoms are starting to rapidly recede! But, I noticed on some corals and around the tank in many spots, there are these long brown strings of goo. What could they be? I know they aren't vermitid fishing lines because I have those in the 55 and I know what they look like.

What could these brown strings be? The product of the diatoms backing off?
