wit, outta curriosity, i have never looked at the molecular make up of cement... and i dont know if you bought them new, but perhaps the cement was saturated in some sort of chemicals and it has been leachin into your tank... i personally love the idea of what you were trying to do. but i wonder if the diy rocks would be a safer route compared to this

all though with 250 gallons to fill here shortly ill be watching the closely...
who knows maybe the carpet just want meant to be...

very hard...but not impossible. Many would say the same for many marine corals and fishes that are kept in captivity successfully. The fact that one is eating and the other attempting is a very, very good sign.

Let's keep this discussion positive in nature please.

Beaties Dave!
Good luck with them!

The LFS near me has one, and it's been living for I think 2yrs. Whenever they have a shipment of live rock, they put some into it's tank, and it eats 'till it can't eat no more

The problem with the MI is the same with CBB's delicate shipper's and tend to go on hunger strikes but it's not impossible to keep as it's been mentioned, the problem may be keeping them alive long term I don't know of any case where it's been kept for more than a year or two.

One thing to keep in mind is that Wit has been in this hobby for a long time he's not a newbie and if he feels comfortable in keeping them then that's his decision and I wish him all the best
