| Scopas Tang | Re: jhnrb 150 reef Most likely I will have to heat to some extent. I am located about 80 miles south of the oregon border right off Humboldt Bay, Eureka, calif. Other systems in the area that have had outside equipment have found that it is cheaper to provide a little heat when needed in exchange for the natural cooling experianced. anyway I may heat the room in the winter. there are two ways to accomplish it as i see it now, resistent radiator oil filled (electric), or a small gas direct vent heater. I have a portable radiator that will do just fine and may try to do that 1st year. so will not stock heavy until all these issues are resolved. thanks for the question. |

| Scopas Tang | Re: jhnrb 150 reef Quick update on the equipment shed. with some warm days at last I had a chance to evaluate the equipment shed environment. It was obvious that ventilation was not adequate. so here is a pic of the ventilation system. the fixed vents will be such that they can be blocked off during winter if needed and to the right is an exhaust fan that will be controlled with a humidity switch and temp switch. |

| Scopas Tang | Re: jhnrb 150 reef Well just a bit of progress in the shed. just a quick update, deck is done, fence is done, new door jams and doors done, fixed sprinklers, etc, etc, etc. but managed to get this in. I have drilled the 100 gal sump one end and will do other end this weekend. bout all for now. oh I have decided to insulate the shed. I will use ridgid board 2 1/4" thick. seems the roof transmits heat into the shed during the day so will do that 1st and see if it helps. walls seem to stay cool so not sure if walls will be insulated or not, most likely. |

| Scopas Tang | Re: jhnrb 150 reef The wet dry system shown in the picture is a CPR-294 with 2 - 6" skimmers, there will be also a small skimmer in the CPR-aquafuge pro, and a turboflotor 1000 multi in the sump system for ozone handling, and lastely a geo RC250 as a main skimmer. naturally dosing will be done due to the large amount of skimming at such time as the full system is up and running and stocking levels are up. the temperature in the shed was apprx. 90 degrees or higher at the roof. ill check again after insulation installed. and post results.
