well here is a pic of the reef and substrait. Hawiian rock on bottom as base and figi on top. i know i know. the figi has not been cleaned. its ok, plans are to let it cure and seed with live when water added and will let clean up crew do the cleaning. dosnt smell if anyone is wondering. son just could not stand it any longer so added fish right away. i know i should let things settle in but just could not wait so mom to the rescue and found some fish that would be appropriate before water added. now every one is presently happy and i can concentrate on the next phase. reef is supported vertically and has good circulation all around. looks a littly skimpy but wanted it that way so corals could fill in and grow out to larger sizes. more rock in refuge.

It has been a real hit. it takes all that notice about 30 minutes before they get board with it. sort of waiting for them to move or something. I dont know why i didnt think of it. well i guess that is what moms are for and it was suggested as if it was the obvious thing to do. Guess we are just on a different plane on this one, but, it works so kudos for mom. The procedure for acclimating using this process is to add air every 10 minutes or until tired and when all are watching to see if they will move, the acclimation is complete and you can walk away. (good for at least 30 minutes if setup is not rushed). if not working any longer reaclimate using above procedure.

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

couple pics of inside of equipemnt shed. one is the end of the shed showing the dryer exhaust vent. this item has been throughly sealed with high temp tape and provides a source of heat in winter. the under crawl space is also located here so it can be open for ventilation or closed(piece of ridgid board) for control of heat loss. the other pic is the drain and supply line punched through the foundation at the end of the shed. this end is where the cpr 294 will start the filter and sump line. more pics as things develope. currently replacing the back deck so my project is currently mostly on hold.

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

i still have another coat of sealer to apply on all wood products. still contimplating if i should insulate with foam board or not, and still have to apply a sealer to the concrete floor and the masonry blocks. naturally i still have the system support stands to build yet. well about all for now.

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

well after a little programing glitch i finally got the aquacontroller jr. programed. following are some pic's of the dry test run lights and fans. all working as intended. hood temp. with all lights on and fans running 92 degrees. this is taken from the top of the hood. will lower probe down a bit but just above mh level and see how that goes. the moon lights are on a program within the controller. it has sunrise and sunset for the entire year at 15 degrees north. It is a real moon cycle and the program adjusts the on and off to correspond with the 15 degrees north lattitude. and it also controls brightness. anyway connect lines under cabinet tomorrow and then out to the equipment shed for phase II. electrician over last week on other item so while he was here had him puch through wall into equipemnt shed two 20 amp circuits, I will take it from there. about all for now.

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

Looks great! can't wait to see it with water.
Im wondering though if you should replace the hose clamp with a nylon one. Isn't that going to rust and polute the water?

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

You Are Absolutely Correct FFrankie. Prior To Putting In Water I Will Replace All Metal Clamps With Nylon Clamps (plastic) At Or Below Water Line. Thanks For The Observation, polution not of concern but no metal in closed system is a good idea (all I Had At The Time) forgot to readdress that item, so, thanks for the heads up. it is now on my list of things before water goes in.
