John I came across this quote by Longfellow and thought of your thread!

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

Update on progress.
Makeup water automated and also kalk reactor when needed.

Saltwater barrel circulation pump.

Inside ro/di barrel - pump for export, pickup line for makeup, and air stone for circulation and oxygenation.

Feed water line connected.

RO/DI system.

THE ABOVE ARE NOT YET FINISHED. MORE TO COME.

Looking good. I like the ro/di system. Also everything looks very secure. Keep up the good work!

What elevation in inches do you have for the salt barrel supply and return circulation. Looks like you have them set fairly low which is awesome as salt settles to the bottom when it loses suspension.

The bottom intake to the pump is 6" to center of line off bottom of barrel and the return center of line is at 13" off bottom of barrel. This will provide a very good mix at the bottom of the barrel and throughout. I also will push air to oxygenate and circulate the salt water. The air will run 24/7, the pump will run 72 hrs with OSMO prep and another 72 hrs with new saltwater. when water change is to be done the pump will be run at least 24 hours prior to export to main sump. The intake and outtake are positioned for consideration of circulation only.

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

Finally. The RO system is pumping water. Added a mixing pump to the ro barrel also. Feed water in 280 TDS, product water to barrel 0 TDS. I added a .35 pleated prefilter ahead of the ro system. The TDS is reading the feed water after the Prefilter. Im very impressed with this R/O system. (Spectrapure 2000 5 stage). Electrical wiring has started.

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

35 gpd, however, I have already found out that my pressure at 44 lbs is not sufficient to get the product amount, so, I have a booster pump and flush kit from spectrapure on the way. If I decide that the 35gpd is not enough I can always piggyback another membrane to increase daily production. anyway I feel the 35 per day will be just fine. water changes will only be monthly as now planned, and if increased then will revisit the ro amount. (of course spectrapure has higher gpd units. The current rage is the max cap 5 stage).

Re: jhnrb 150 reef

Very nice Mike!
I too am thinking of a dual membrane and booster pump because they will significantly reduce waste water!

John, where is the Sports Illustrated swimsuit models calendar. You must have some space left on the wall for that!
