lionfish just ate 10 gutloade (with flake and cyclopeeze) ghost shrimp, boy is he a good hunter, trigger fish seems to have trouble catching them...

i figure i will feed him like this every 2-3 days, he seems to eat a lot at once

well, i was originally worried about the trigger being beat up by the lion, but spike (the lion) succumbed to his wounds the trigger gave him...
he was feeding well for 2 weeks, was healthy, was even taking some frozen, but pablo nipped his side a few times, with no signs of infection/coating/bloating, must have got beat up again last night... I seem to not do great with fish....1/10 of them just don't make it

now i have to find something that will go with this trigger fish, 120 for him is a bit too much without some company...any suggestions

on a more positive note, the clam is doing well. no pinching, altho it is small, hard to tell
my sps are staying out and growing; tried my first fragging of an acropora, the frag and mother are still extending polyps and tissue has 1/2 covered the exposed area in 2 days (pretty cool)
anemonae are doing well, once a week both the condylactis and bta will hide for a few hours, but they are eating well, using squid, mysis and clam 3 x/week.
tangs/banghaii's and anthias are all getting along.

found my porcelain crab(see my icon) this am...havent seen him for a while, good to know he is ok

also found my week missing orange spotted goby (on the carpet) i may end up covering the tank with egg crate

hope everyone is doing well

Just realized why the bta was hiding this morning, he is now a momma, got 2 fully expanded huge bta's ...incredibal, it was done in less than 12 hours, and no signs of splitting before

Im assuming you have more than one tank. One for the meanie and the late Spike and one for the beautiful Anthias...on of my favorite fish after the goby

this is very odd, but i think my bta looks to be about to split again.. i wonder if it has anything to do with my banghai's disappearance

on another positive note, my attempts at makeing frags of some of my sps have not immediately gone down in flames, frags, and mother colonies are alive still

WOW some seahorses! They are very beautiful unusual looking creatures. Lots of luck! Are you thinking about putting a gorg in there for hitching?

few more pics:

without flash, a bit bluer than normal(light box tilted, so vho actinic is sitting over it.

Kim...the only "real/live" creature for now other than the ponies will be macroalgae...i have only fake rock, thin sand bed, and some macro growing now...i am thinking of making the lights more bluer than typical pc for feeling of depth.
i am considering gorgonians, but i don't have much light, and some sting so i don't want to risk it...i did ok for 1 year with last batch, only to have slight change in water condition (not measurable by test kits) kill all the ponies overnight
so i am taking no chances, plus when i get them in september, the bottom of the tank should be covered with the feather caulerpa, should look nice

Well... you could consider Diodogorgia...common name, Finger Sea Fan...Yellow Finger or Red Finger. They are non photosynthetic....so they are right up your alley
They dont grow very large either, around 10" across. Nice hitching post with flowers
