the bubble trap

well i tried something different and it almost didn't work
i have 1 inch down tube pvc on the return pouring into a seperate piece of 1.5 inch pvc on the bottom with 1.5 to 2.5 reducers on the top and bottom of the 1.5 pipe.
so water leakes out the bottom and blows the sand a little or a least it used to.
but the bubbles come out the top.
i also made an acrilc top cut to fit the entire 20L and made some cut outs for plumbing ,the skimmer, and heater. but if you notice there is some coming down in the shape of a box around the tube. this pops the surface bubble in the box .
the keys to this working right was getting the down tube to go down into the bubble trap just enough. the acryic bubble box coming down into the water and the bubble trap 1.5inch pvc with the cuplings being 1-2 mm above the waters surface.
iit works great and is quiet. i have a second bubble trap box for the spill over into the compartment with the mag drive which is a mag 3 350 gph

Cool Mattie!

Hey, are you going to the MASC meeting the end of July? It is going to be held at NCSU again this year. I went last year and had a great time.
