I'm Back!

Hello all you old RS'ers and Hello to any new guys/gals as well.

I know that I have been sorta missing in action here lately. I miss RS, as it was and still is home to this reefer.

Well, I have been setting up tanks, and taking down tanks, over and over.
Trying to find that happy medium between huge and little. After several months I decided on a new tank, and I am very happy with my decision.

So lets get down to the tanky-goodness!!!

A little equipment info:

Elos 120 Pool (92g rimless crystal tank with dry overflow)
Elos Cube Stand with Custom White Doors
Elos Sump100 (rimless sump, with ATO Chamber)
Elos NS1000 Protein Skimmer
Elos Osmocontroller II (auto top off)
Elos Movement Kit (730gph built into the overflow)
Elos Aquaplanet II 36" 6x39watt T5, individual reflectors (Custom Painted by Ferrari, Ibis White )
EchoTech Marine Vortech MP10 (Two units, 1575gph each)
EchoTech Battery Back Up
Teco TR10 Aquarium Chiller
NextReef Media Reactor
Eheim 1260 (Return Pump, 635gph)
Eheim 1260 (Skimmer Feed, 635gph)
Ecoxotic Stunner Strips 553nm (Moon LIghts X2)

60 Pounds Southeast Asian Specialty Live Rock
120# Black Indo Live Sand

Current USA Solana (QT)

There is other misc. equipment, but too much to list.

The overall theme for this tank is North West Hawaiian Islands. I am recreating the islands in the North Western Hawaiian Chain, specifically the deep reef. I have always had a passion for deepwater angels and butterflies and this tank will show that!

The following is the planned stock list. All of the fish have been ordered through my Hawaiian fish connection

Apolemichthys arcuatus (2.5")
Apolemichthys arcuatus (3.5")
Chaetodon tinkeri (2.5")
Centropyge interruptus (3.5")
Centropyge loricula (2")
Centropyge loricula (2.5")
Pseudanthias bicolor (2")
Pseudanthias bicolor (2")
Pseudanthias bicolor (2")
Pseudanthias bicolor (2")
Pseudanthias bicolor (2")
Pseudanthias ventralis (2") Female)
Pseudanthias ventralis (2") Female)
Pseudanthias ventralis (2") Male)

The Ventralis are currently in QT at Megan's House and are eating very aggressively. The next fish to be added to the QT will be the little Bandit Angel.

Corals will be comprised of the following:
Leathers
Euphyllias
Plate Corals
and a few other random species.

I am very excited about this tank, and I will do my best to keep this thread updated.

Let me know what yall think!

~Michael

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: I'm Back!

The Ventralis Anthias were added in place of the Hawaiian Long Fin Anthias.

While I am aware of the fact the the Ventralis are not found in Hawaii, Long Fins are, and are almost identical. The primary difference is the hardiness, or lack of, with the Longfins. While the Ventralis are not an east to keep fish, the Long Fins have such a dismal record in captivity that I could not justify trying to keep them

Pseudanthias hawaiiensis

Anthias ventralis ventralis

Similar, no?

Re: I'm Back!

Things are good. If we could STOP getting snow up here things would be better LOL!

No unfortunately still in the planning stages. I'm not willing to "drop the hammer" on a house until life and the economy pic up and stabilize.

Re: I'm Back!

I understand about the economy and not wanting to build. Megan and I were very close to getting a new house, but.......... decided to wait it out

Re: I'm Back!

Good evening everyone!!

Well, I will have my little Bandit Angelfish next Tuesday.

She checks in right at 2.5".
Here is a photo (taken Dec. 6th 2009) of her taken in QT.
This special little fish has been in QT since Dec. 6th, and is eating pellets, flake, mysis and a few other foods. Once I get her she will be in my QT, for an additional two months.

Re: I'm Back!

That is going to be a sweet setup, this is the first thread I have ever subscribed to.

Those rimless tanks are just show stoppers by themselves, one of these days I am going that route.
