| Star Polyps | Clean Slate This will be my first tank chronicle so I had better keep up with it. I have several tanks already but this time I am trying a new setup and starting with trully a "clean slate" . The tank- a 70 gallon acrylic and stand(also acrylic) made by Clarity Plus. I aquired this when getting my new baby-a male 10" blonde naso. This was the tank he was residing in. I have since moved him to my 150 and cleaned up this 70. The only thing I changed is I took out the bio balls and replaced them with filter pads. For anyone not familiar with this setup it kind of goes like this...(btw if anyone know how to get a google sketchup to here I could put up a drawing to help) There is an overflow pipe from the top corner of the back of the tank-that drains down to a pvc pipe that spans the length of the stand with holes in the bottom side. That allows the draining water to fall onto 9(3 sets of 3) filter trays-(I have one level filter pad, one level phos pad and one level carbon pad) and eventually to the bottom of the stand. At this point it gets pulled out by little giant and up another pvc to a return pipe in the top right back corner of the tank. Again, another pvc then spans across the tank to act as a return water spray and circulates the water about as much as I have seen most closed loop systems. All in all it seems like a very simple system that I hope works out well. The current canopy I am replacing the lighting with my own power compact inside the hood. As of now I only have the water running, the sand settled(I am seeding with ls) and 2 heaters in place. I will be using LR from my existing tanks and would like to take my two maroons and rbta and put in there. BUTTTT,, Seriously I have not made a 100% decision as to what to go with here and so any input will be considered. I have tossed ideas like a volitan tank(not keen on the idea of just him), possibly putting an eel(never had one before but I dont want the top of the tank on lock down), would love to do an octo but (already tried that and it kept going horribly wrong).. Throw your thoughts and ideas-I am always listening to the experience of this site.. BTW, here is the naso I got.. |
