The tank pics are awesome and so are the fishes and corals.
Hopefully you'll keep posting more often here.RS is a great family of very good people. For a moment I thought we lost forever but I see that you have been busy with the baby.Again keep posting info about your tank and dont just lurk around ok?

Hey Guys. Thanks for all the kind words and freindship. It's so nice to be able to come back here and see / hear from so many familiar faces. Yep, I'm really pleased with the tank these days but I just HAVE SO MANY ISSUE's with PH. I have a PH computer and I used to be able to stabilise the tank between 8.38 and 8.42 which is a pretty tight range but with the addition of all the SPS corals it's just gone mad. It now runs from 7.9 in the mornings to 8.4 in the evenings but strangely enough the corals don't seem to mind.

Yep, Drew is just the greatest. I guess no bloke can be prepared for the way you fall for your own kid. I mean, I've always liked kids but sometimes I just look at him a feel like crying I love him so much. And I can tell you all, no matter what mood he is in if you sit him in front of the reef. He just goes boggled eye and loves it to bits. Bless him.
Anyway, catch you all later
Brucey

OK guys, since the loss of the RS database last year I've been meaning to update my tank profile etc with some new pics of the tank and some new additions / coral / fish . . . . . and of course some new gadgets and hardware. Apart from ripping out the sandbed, getting rid of all my macroalgae in the sump, re-plumbing the entire system and replacing my return pumps, powerheads and circulation pumps . . . . I haven't done a lot really . . . .

Anyway, here goes. Apologies up front for those with dial up connections. This is BW intensive

First off, a couple of overall tank shots. The room was also redecorated which was an undertaking . . . . the tank had to be undercovers for 3 days and was fed fresh air from a fan situated in the back garden (yard to you guys). But it was worth it in the end as it now has that english pub feel to it, to go with my bar and pool table

Hardware has been upgraded too. The skimmer was connected to a new pump (OR3500), the return was upgraded to an OR6500 and fed via a split return through a 30W UV, I purchased a Kalk stirrer and a Rowaphos fluidised filter. However, the biggest investment was the KNOP calcium reactor . . . and the best money I have ever spent. All of a sudden, my Alk, Ca, Mag are all in balance and I don't dose any more additives at all. The Kalk compensates for the drop in PH coming from the reactor but is still a little on the low side (8.1), but not enough for me to worry about it.

The corals are all doing well. Esp my blue acropora which started as a 1" frag about 3 years ago now and now is approx 8" wide by 5 " tall. I lost a plateing montipora about 6 months ago due to a catastrophic rise in Alk . . . . . I just kept dosing the daily amount without correct monitoring and the ca went through the floor with the alk going through the roof. However, the Stylphoro's, Seritapora's, Hydnophora's, Turbinaria, Porities etc etc are all doing well . . . . esp since the addition of a temp computer (26.4 all day long) and the calcium reactor

And a few more. I can't get the Tubinaria to fully open it's polyps. I've tried it in bright lighting, currently in shade, strong current and low current. If anyone has any experince with this, I'd love to hear

On the fish front, I've been very lucky and haven't lost a fish in 6 months. I got a nasty sting off my dwarf Lions fish a few weeks ago and now will be more careful when putting my hands under rock ledges. My big success story is the raising of my 1" Emporer Angel, to near adult hood now. he truely is stunning. Also, some of you would have read my sucess with getting my blue throat trigger's to feed and to be honest, they now think they own the place. Not in a destructive or nasty way, just the way the swim around. It's great. Anyway, some pics for you

OK, that's it for now. I'm around all weekend looking after the boy, as Lou is away on her Hen do (is that what you guys call it to . . . . or is it a bridal shower) . . . . Yep, getting married on the 16th. GULP. So if anyone has any questions or comments I'll try and respond as soon as I can
Take care
