Very impressive setup !! The corals look to have grown quite a bit since I last saw some tank pics Brucey. I can't believe the collection of fish you maintain in your tank and how healthy they look, Congrats

Brucey,
This is an awesome thread! I'm very impressed w/ the detail of your set up! I see by your signature that you are planning a new BIGGER system? I guess Lou gave you permission to take over her basement completely?? Rock on! Lemme know how exactly you accomplished this since I want to upgrade to a larger tank eventually and will need to convince Rocio that its good for her too.

Hey Thanks guys. Like I said, I don't believe there is any real secret. Just plenty of hard work and time. Even when things go bad and you feel like chucking it all in, if you stay with it. In the long run it is worth it. I've had an outbreak of cyno recently and a gold rim tang when over the weir and flooded the basement and at times you feel enough is enough but it just keeps getting better and better.

MKP. Thanks for the nice words mate. We all get that dream tank in the end and then just want another one. LOL

Hi Cheeks (Hi Robbie). Yep, the addition of the kalk stirrer and PH computer really made the corals grow. A steady high PH and lots of Kalk seem to have done the job with the SPS's. I just can't get enough of them. Money is another matter. The purple cap was a bonus. I saw it in a marine shop and it was just a very drab brown. I bought it home and put in under my lights and hey presto .... Purple Cap. Just lucky i guess

Curt ... thanks dood. I always appreciate your input on any of my threads and a lot of this is thanks to you. Cheers bud

Hey Maxx. Hows it hanging bud. Still got the bar work. Well, Lou told me I could go and get the 500Gallon setup if I sold the R1. I went on my bike holiday two weeks ago and fell in love with her again after a long hard winter. So the big tank may have to wait with baby only 7 weeks away now. I know you'll appreciate this. Here is a link to the bike holiday pics
http://haveyougot.com/euroblat/

Ray, TD. Thanks for the nice words guys

Vina. how are you bud. Yep, with the baby due in 7 weeks things have been a bit crazy around here for a while and I don't get on RS as often as I should. I normally manage a quick 20 mins whilst I'm at work but you guys are all in bed. Anyway, thanks for the kind words and take care

Brucey

Hi guys . . . . well, 6 or 7 weeks have past and nothing in a reef tank stands still that long. Also, following the birth of our son Drew last week I have been granted 2 weeks paternity leave by work and so find myself with some spare time between nappy changes to take some photo's and update the Tank Pages.

Well, firstly, as some of you may remember I had an outbreak of ich and invested in a TMC UV fliter . . . . which has worked wonders . . . the best £100 I have spent on the tank

I've bought and acquired some new bits of coral. The first being a red brain coral which really isn't my usual taste as I like the SPS and LPS corals but a friend bought it and put it in his FO system. The poor thing nearly died and sustained quite substantial recession and retracted into it's skelaton. I received it a month ago and it's recovering nicely and makes a nice addition to the tank

I was at my LFS store the other day buying a nice Rusty coloured Montipora (too follow next) and spotted a very sorry specimum lying at the bottom of the dealers tank. It was a pinkish plate Montipora and had recession on all egdes with no polyp extension visable. I managed to persuade him to sell it to me for £10 ($7) which really is a steal over here. Anyway, after a week or so, new growth started to show and now it's one of my fav peices.

What i was actually buying that day was this little peice. I'm not even sure of an id. I think it's a monti but I can't make up my mind if it's branching, bunching or plating. Anyway, I just loved the rusty colour to it.
