Hi Craig. Back home now. It's just going to be a fuge for critters with a 4" DSB and a whole load of macroalgae. I'm getting the odd outbreak of bryopsis in the main tank and I'm hoping to encourage it into the fuge instead of the main system . . . . . but as Max said earlier in the thread, it will prob end up a Clam tank or Frag tank. LOL.

Ref Taho craig, I went there in 1999 . . . and yes, it is beautiful. I went on a balloon ride across the lake. Awsome. I flew in San Fran and drove everywhere, to Tahoe, toured Yusemite, through Death Valley, over the hoover dam, onto Vegas, up and down the Grand Canyon on a mule (now that was scary) and back to LA. It was amazing. About 2500miles in 2 weeks if I remember correctly.

Well, At least I'm not getting blamed for an expensive addition to the tank...
It looks great Brucey! My vote is for the clam tank personally.

After the dust cloud settles, you should be able to just plumb the tank right on in, and it should populate very quickly with bacteria, and shouldnt cause a cycle...basically its no different than adding a new base rock to the tank. It's an area totally devoid of bacteria, so it should be colonized rapidly...

One question, the height on that kinda worries me with Drew either walking soon, or already there....any thoughts on how you will safeguard him from the new tank, (or visce versa)?

Hey Maxx . . . . . blimey dood. Your more ready to be a dad than I ever was . . . . food for though eh matey. It's OK. The tank and pool table are in the basement. The basement door has a lock on it and until he's old enough to understand, he'll only ever be down there with me or Lou at his side. But your right matey, they get there fingers into everything. Only 9 months old and already he's a handful.

Well, just to be sure, I ran an amonia test when I got home tonight. The sand had been settling for 24 hours and I ran a baby hang on skimmer just for measure. No amonia at all. So I took the plunge and ran a Maxijet 1200 into the system. Any thoughts on flow rates chaps. Is this enough or could it handle a lot more. I don't want the sand getting stirred up. The cube holds approx 30US gallons. I've built in a settlement chamber (don't laugh at the silicone . . . it was my first attempt ever . . . at least it didn't leak) where the water flows in, then over the weir wall into the sand chamber. Some easy to clean aquamedic foam catches any partilces heading over the weir. It circulates around the sand chamber, through an overflow and back to the tank. You can easily define the two layers of mud / sand.

Your thoughts appreciated.

OK Guys

Just sorted my image galary out . . . . too many pics and not enough space . . . . so I thought it would be a good time to upload a new full tank shot as I have quite a few more SPS in the tank. Unfortunatley when I was taking the two shots most of the fish cleverly swam from one end of the tank to the other . . . . but always the one not in camera view LOLOL

Ummm, I;ve tried to add a picture in my galary as per Doni's instrcutions on / Uploading photos to RS. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong

Brucey, I edited you post above and pasted the 'img' link from your full tank shot. If you look in your gallery at the photo, there is an area that has an option "Copy to clipboard" to the right of a long addy ([.img]imageaddyhere[/.img]). That is what i used to edit your post above.

It looks spectacular ! I see you have a Leopard Wrasse how's it doing, just eating fauna from the LR or is it eating prepared foods ?

Hi Rob. How are you doing matey. Yeah, I kinda have gone a bit wrasse mad recently (Wrassman would be proud of me . . . what ever happened to him). I've been struggling to find anything that my Emp Angel or Powder Blue tank won't kill . . . . which rules out all Angels, Butterflies, and other Tangs. The wrasses although not reef safe (they like crabs and shrimps) all get along with each other and i've never seen another fish harrass them.

The Leopard Wrasse is fine and has eaten prepared food from day one. I also have an Birdmouth Wrasse, a Harlequin Tusk, Lunar Wrasse

They are all beautiful and very active . . . . . but don't introduce any of them if you have a snail or crab population. Which brings us to another interesting topic . . . . . DO WE NEED A CLEANUP CREW AT ALL ??? I haven't got one.

Take care
Brucey

Hey Doni . . . thanks for the kind words . . . but even in a "balanced tank . . . then why do I keep adjusting" the absolute key is water changes. To be honest I have more fish than I should (Approx 25 fish some quite large) and without 30% water changes every 3-4 weeks I would run into Nitrate problems.

Well, since you are NOT battling some sort of algae/water quality issues and your tank is thriving, it is balanced, IMO. By 'balanced', I mean to say that you are keeping everything in order by keeping your nutrient export higher than your nutrient import.

Brucey, NICE! I admire your hard work on your tank, and the guts to try fish that aren't exactly "reef safe".SPS is a contagious bug, we have it here in the states as well.Balanced tanks are truely remarkable, for growth, spieces content, and fish residents. It's a stable environment to which everything is as routine as life was for them in the ocean. If you are the tanks "clean up crew" I do not see a reason for owning one.Hope to see some more pics soon.
