| Tridacna maxima | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! The overflow is done, I just need to sand it a little to smooth the edges out, but it looks NICE, pics will come later when I can get a hold of a camera. Its 23 3/4 inches tall, has two 45 degree bends in it, and is designed to sit in the center of the back. It came out really nice. The only thing wrong with it that could happen is depending on what the ACTUAL measurements of the 90 that I get are it may be just a tad too short, but that is easily fixed with a few acrylic sheets. This thing is awesome. Also, once I post pictures up and everything if anyone likes what they see pm me cause I talked to my grandpa and he may be able to make a few more of them. However, you will actually have to pay for them, I dont know how much yet, its only free for me cause im the grandson ![]()

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! haha, well after looking that word up (never heard it before, interesting word) I must say i was not the one that made it. I just gave him dimensions and he did it and handed it to me, that was my part of the bargain...lol.

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! You all will be happy to know that I am moving along trying to find everything I can to get ready so this all works out for me when the time comes smoothly. Wet tested the skimmer today, this thing holds 4 freaking gallons of water, I think I underestimated its power...lol. Anyways, the 2 SMALL leaks that were there were plugged, one of which was from my silicone job of top cup holder, and the other was a hairline crack in the mixing box which was fixed using weld-on then silicone over that. I when decided to Silicone everything else that could maybe ever leak...ever. Then all the pvc had nylon tape wrapped and put on, and then it took me 30 minutes to get the silicone out of my beard...dont ask.... And now I am getting a list together of everything else that I need in order to get this thing moving.

| Tridacna maxima | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! Well...here it is...Again, it stands 23.75 inches tall and is a total of 11 inches wide. The center is 5 inches and then the pieces on the outside are 4.25 inches at the start of the 45 degree bend. The teeth are 1/2" open then 1/2" Lexan and are 1" deep, my last overflow had 1.5" deep teeth but the water really only ran over about the first 1/2" or so, so the rest was just ugly and wasteful. ![]() ![]() What do you all think. And, you didnt think I was going to post pictures and not have some of the new baby, did you? Here she is, however she seems a little preoccupied in these pictures, she is currently involved in a vicious territory dispute with her reflection, but I am sure the two of them will eventually come to a peaceful resolution. ![]() ![]() In between my posts I unloaded 10 gallons of saltwater into gallon jugs and started the mixing process of 10 more gallons. I also took down the 10 gallon tank and cleaned it all out so it was nice and shiny, and then took down the 20 gallon tank and cleaned it all out. If i need to put one of them back up in the next few days I will have enough water to fill both of them, so I am not worried. Then I moved the shelves back into the closet , stopped and ate a cheeseburger and some wings, and then went back to take some pictures and upload them, and there they are.I also have a request for RS. Looking at most build threads on here (been doing ALOT of homework lately) most of them seem like the builder posts some stuff and the spectators go "oohhhh and ahhhhh" and then more of that. I dont want this thread to be that, and for the next few questions I want everyone who reads this thread to be throwing questions and suggestions at me. ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you can think of. I am sure there are questions out there I have not asked myself yet that would be very useful, like "how many power strips do you have?" (which the answer is 5, 2 of which have light times). If 50 people are thinking of how to make this new tank better I doubt I will sit down in 3 months from now and go "darn, i wish I would have thought of that" or get stuck in the middle of the setup process because I forgot something stupid like zipties or PVC fittings (have 100 of the first and a list for the second). What can I do to make this better, what could you have done to make your tank better, or what did you do that was awesome that I can steal from you Bring it on!

| Smile Maker | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! Whew, I'm worn out just reading that one! ![]() It's like this, as well as any other home project. It will require, every tool in your arsenal, several trips to Home Depot, some cussing, bandaids, inquiries, mistakes and dedication. You have the basics, now expand the basics and tell us a new or different way to do things. BTW, grandpa has some skillz! |

| Neon dottyback | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! I kinda wish that I had built a PVC frame for my rockwork and then ziptied them to it. I might do it one day, but I'll probably have to pull some rock out.

| Neon dottyback | Re: Jeremy's 90 Gallon Build Mayhem!! I also don't know if there is a way to black out your overflow, but you might want to consider it to reduct growth of algae in the overflow.
