Thanks for the input it helped with making my decision, unfortunately there is no adjustment for the the venturi so I can't increase the air going into the skimmer.

Gina test kit is definitely good it's a new salifert and I get the same reading as my old test kit, but a good thought anyways.

FFrankie had thought about the pump it is the one that came with a skimmer so I know it is the proper pump, but my thought is maybe the pump is losing some of the power and is not flowing to full capacity. and I not share if I wanna spend the $250 and not see any improvement or just go with a whole new skimmer.

Gina, I'm leaning toward the Euro-reef but I won't be able to afford a new skimmer of that size until June. I have an extra mag-drive 18 pump that I use for water changes. I am thinking after I change my water this weekend trying that pump on my present skimmer and see how it performs.

Gina no real change in the system, as far as the skimmer goes I tried a different pump and cleaning the venturi assembly and with no change. so I think I am going to just keep doing large water changes until I afford a new skimmer.

the skimmer worked real good with my 120 gal. tank but I just don't think it can handle the 210 tank.

When I do my water changes I used two 35 gal. trash cans one is made up the with the my fresh salt water mix and the other is empty, I attached a 3/4 garden hose to my magdrive 18 pump and then I place the pump into my tank and the other end of the garden hose I place in the empty garbage can, I turn on the pump and fill can, when the can is full I removed the pump from the tank and put the pump and the newly made saltwater can and put a garden hose in my tank and refill my tank. I used the mag drive 18 because it submersible and it also doubled as a backup pump in case one of my main pumps fail I can use this one until I can replace the bad pump.

I got my black percs from eTropicals.com about three years ago I don't believe they carry them any more.

the Achilles tang I would suggest on waiting until your tank become more established and stable, out of all the fish I have gotten that one was the most difficult to get to eat. it took almost three full weeks before it would really start to eat and that was with trying every combination and type of food I could think of.

on seting up your cl I think that commute would be a killer.

jiddy Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but work has been hectic lately

Thanks for the details on the WC, im new to the SW hobby and this is my first big tank, so im a little confused on some things, my tank is downstairs from my stored water too, so ill have to figure out how to get the cans downstairs without gettin caught by my wife for smashin water on the carpet. lol

Thats to bad, i really want some nice black clowns, have you ever got them to spawn? could i bother you for another pic of them, i just love em!

Thats to bad about the Achilles too, i really think they are one of the coolest fish in the hobby, but i can patiently wait =(

And i dont know what im goin to do about the CL, did you have a website that told you how to do it or anythin that easy? That will be the first thing i do when i hook it up this weekend

My next question is, for skimmin, since i havent heard great things about the ASM G4, but i have about the G3, do you think to ASM G3's will be good for a tank that size?

Thanks for the help thus far, see you in the future!

you can get black-and-white percula clown fish at liveaquaria.com and no they haven't spawned yet.
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...fm?pCatId=1114

on the Achilles tang just make it your last fish, get a little experience do some research, and give one a try.

when it comes time to add your closed loop system and you don't feel confident in your plumbing abilities you can check out the plumb@play at http://www.oceansmotions.com/ but I feel you'll probably able to handle it without a problem there is a lot people here who can talk you throw it.

now on to the protein skimmer, this is one of the most important pieces of equipment in your reef tank don't skimp when it comes to buying a skimmer get the best one you can afford. I am not familiar with the ASM-G3 skimmers but I checked them out and that one is only rated for 250 gal. and I feel that wouldn't be big enough most protein skimmers are overrated on the gallonage. I would suggest looking at euro-reef or aquac skimmers I would probably suggest getting one rated for300- 400 gal.
