| Neon dottyback | Re: The Amazing 100 One thing we did with the doors on my stand was made them about 1/4" smaller than the space. to hide the gap around the doors we put some decorative wood. hinges will also play a big roll. ![]()

| Achilles Tang | Re: The Amazing 100 I must have read your mind, LOL. That is exactly what I am working on. I also have some good news about my pump. I reduced the size of the intake and made a double check of all connections and resealed everything and now the pump has been running without a problem for a few hours. The first polishing of the inside has been done and now it wil take a few more to finish getting all the scratches out. Since it is just finishing work to be done on the cabinet I want to go ahead and get things finished up on the tank itself so I can get it cycling. I found my porcilin crab today and had no idea they got that big. Your stand is sweet. My mother in law is going to be visiting in about 6 weeks and says she wants to see the 100 up and running, LOL. That may be a bit of a rush but we will see. On another note, how much of a cycle can I expect? All the live rock is in systems right now and so is the sand. I will also be using most of the stuff from my 55 in this. It will be like a tank transfer so not new stuff. I do not want to go into this thinking that I will not have a cycle but I also do not want to wait 6 months to find out that I had it settle in quick with just a mini cycle. I wont rush it. Thanks for the help everyone, Shaun

| Torch coral | Re: The Amazing 100 Shaun, this tank looks amazing. you are farther ahead than we are, I hope I have the patience you had to perservier through it all! mine is running out! Sometimes I dont think im gonna ever get the plumbing going. something more important always seems to come up! I think your carpentry skills look great, and Im glad your working on your hinges as I know those can be a pita, and alot of your troubles sometimes! dont leave your gaps to close or your gonna have what happened to my canopy. After freshly painting and allowing to dry closed, it sealed the opening and now has to be pried open and touched up. I think son got paint in the hinges being sloppy and that sure didnt help. Hang in there. You Can Do IT!! LOL ![]() |

| Achilles Tang | Re: The Amazing 100 Dude you got pics up? I have been going at mine so much that I have not been on much lately. Yea the new hinges seem to work much better, they are 1/4" taller than the old ones and this gives me the clearance that I need. I have also been busy researching acrylic tanks and how people have buffed them clear again. It apears that Mr hung has done a lot of them both dry and up and running and he says he would rather do the inside with it running so I will finish that when I get it full, the buffer that I am using is not a chemical so there is nothing to get in the water. Also my pump is running like a champ now still has not missed a beat. I also picked up 40 gallons of water and started to get some mixed for it. Mr Hung has a lot of experiance and he recomends filling it now and bringing it up to temp as sometimes with acrylic you will not find a leak when it is cold. He is our club "expert" as he has more experiance then most of us have been alive. I also want to say everyone here has been great and I apologize for getting fustrated and venting out here yesterday. Shaun

| Elegance coral | Re: The Amazing 100 Haha. When I build my house I will have to build my own tank and lighting so I can get the dimensions I want. The tank will be 5feet long x 3feet wide x 2feet tall. It will be pretty sweet.

| Achilles Tang | Re: The Amazing 100 Yea it has been a lot more than I even bargined for but it did save me a lot of money, hmmm lets see.. I found a stand I liked but it was almost $2000 and I built this one for less than $200 so I think I get the best of both worlds. Save money and I built it so it is all me, plus you really do put a lot of yourself in stuff you build yourself. Shaun

| Achilles Tang | Re: The Amazing 100 Not only is it fun it is a learning experiance that will not soon be forgoten. I have learned that when someone says they have a peice of wood held, make sure it will save the skin on you fingers. I have learned that you need to make sure that the drill is set in forward to run a screw in, takes forever with it in reverse. And always plug in the right tool, the saw just wont work when it is the drill you plugged in. Ohh and make sure you sweep up often and do not walk through the shop in just your socks, splinters in you toes hurt like heck and cause you to create new words that would make a sailor jelous. Good thing noone else was in there. And whatever you do do not even think that six cans of soda is enough. It really stinks to run out cause then it is either sucom to tiredness or go buy some more liquid sugar to keep you going. More pics to come, Shaun
