Reefing at last, I hope!

Hi all! I've been on this site for a couple of months now researching like crazy before I turned my fish only tank into reef. It's all BigAl's fault! I was perfectly happy with just fish for 5 years until he told me about RS! After running into many problems (high ph, nitrates & phosphates out the roof, black velvet damsel eating zoas, etc. etc.....) now I think I'm ready. The tank is a 55 gal., with a 20 gal sump/fuge. Lights are PC's (one day to be upgraded). Right now all that is in the tank is a clown, a lawnmower blenny, zoas, tube worms, crabs & snails. Have a couple of fish in the QT waiting. Here are a few pics so I dont get yelled at, lol!

One day I will learn that more is not better when it comes to epoxy & superglue at least in a tank!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Re: Reefing at last, I hope!

I see some places in that tank that need some XENIA

You would have more TANK room if you didn't try to coat everything FULLY with Glue and Epoxy Now that you're REEFING I think I'll BUY STOCK on those two companies

Ah, that's going to be very pretty when it's all "grown in". Very nice & great pics (and we didn't even have to ask!) :-)

Unfortunately I cant have a nem until I upgrade my lights, which is a ways off. Actually I "really" glued all the frags to larger pieces of rubble I have, then with those just a tiny bit glued to the bigger stuff or really wedged between rocks that way I can move stuff around if I need to.

I know, I know, heres one. I've got to clean my back glass before any more tank shots, lol. I never realize how dirty it gets until I take pics, yuk! All Ive done is stare at the zoas all the time, not really looking at the whole tank, lol.

My potty-trained poop machine

I've had too much coffee this morning to take pics, will later! They are a tad blurry.

Re: Reefing at last, I hope!

Another short (I hope) set-back for tonite. I came home to no water, frozen pipes, need to make water for tanks & nothing I can do. It's cold & I'm not happy, lol.

Michelle.
You're tank looks lovely. It's going to be great once it gets all covered with reefy-ness...
You have been reading me bump my head threw everything huh? I had fish only but then decided I had enough and to convert and look at the monster it has become! You're gonna love every minute of it. I know I do.
