Re: sambrinar's 75 gals office sanity

Easy and sloppy, the pump is a quite one 2200 591 gph the out flow is 300gph. should be OK. we will see tonight for sure. that is just a 10gal tank, all that will fit in that fancy stand. The baffels are glass from a $1.00 frame that is why they are at an angle. I made it for the 30gal that turned into a 75gal (just add water LOL)

i havent done this, but im looking into it. let me tell you a homemade sump is less than $50 ( the way i plan on making ) the pre-made sumps are $100+.

Brenda, the pump looks like its in there pretty tight. Do the pipes come apart easy or are they all glued> if so how do you get it out to clean or work on if it gets funky or isnt working up to speed? What kind of overflow gizmo do you have on top?

your not threadjacking...

Geesh I am gone for a few to finish it and here you all are. The basket (there will be two is for media, although I am not sure if they will hold with the pressure of the water and weight of the media, we will see. as for the crate on the bottom of the tank? that is to buffer the rock from the glass

The tank was $10.00, glass baffels 4 $1.00 frames, silicone (2 tubes, I am messy) $3.50ish, little baskets 4 for $1.00. So Under $25.00..somewhere there is a link to figure out how much GPH you need for your return pump based on the number of turns, and lenght, diameter of the pipe. Check in the DIY threads

This I will provide later, again sorry. the pump is too strong, empties out way quicker than it fills, need to rig it first. We are gonna use a switch that is for sumps, uses a float to turn the pump on and off depending on the level of the water. I will let you know how that works

This makes me laugh... we plumbed the return side then thought about this after... now there is a removable piece, you just unscrew it and the pipe comes apart. the overflow is an ehopps I think that is what it is called

Re: sambrinar's 75 gals office sanity

If the return is emptying faster than the drain is filling just put a ball valve on the return line to resrtict the flow

Re: sambrinar's 75 gals office sanity

Yep LR tomorrow. I am considering the ball valve, I think that might be safer. Does it matter where in the return line it goes?

Re: sambrinar's 75 gals office sanity

We still have to extend the part that dumps into the tank, I may put it there, would be easier for all involved, not sure yet. Thanks Scott!!
