Wow, love those deep water acros. How does the intensity of light in the home aquarium with MHs compare to the natural light available in deep water? Any acclimation issues?

Craig idealy is to start low and gradually move them higher. I have found out that they take high light and love light as long as they are moved upward slowly. I hear many versions on how deep these corals come from(lagoons and so on)all I know is that they end up liking light and coloring to 400 radiums really nicely.

As far as temperature I used to keep my 65 gallon at 80 to 82 degrees. The 180 is being kept at 76 to 78 degrees.

Tg, Most of the deep acros I have seen are red or have a red tone as a main core.

Good news and bad news:-(

My Blond Naso RIP no longer with us. I have added to the reef a Solorensis wrasse, an Orange back wrasse and a Purple Linkya. Also new to the reef today 2 different species of deep water acroporas, a beautiful red Sea Fan, a Sea Hair slug(great algae eater) and a beautiful Scolymia. I tranfered from my 65 gallon a green leather from Madasgascar.

This is the Scolymia right out of the bag. It is about 4 to 4 1/2 inches wide and it is not even open yet. This thing is huge! Thr pinkish redish color in the picture does no justice to the coral. Is far more vibrant in person.

Thanx you all.

Sharks I go stop by several from Palm Beach Gardens all the way south to Hollywood. They all have different days. I buy most of my stuff from Rob at "Oceans Below" in North Palm Beach.

tg when I opened the box and saw the Scolymia I was so dag on Happy to see its color. I think it is a little shocked with the lights of my reef and it has shrunk since this morning. I moved it to a little more shady spot for now. The color of it is really a pinkish red. I hope she will make it cause I want us to be friends for a long time.

Here is a little something located in the left side of the reef.
