| Fire Coral | big t's reef tank Hey guys just wanted to share my progress on my new setup, hope you all don't mind too much. I will start with my stand. While it is not built w/ loads of 4x8's and loads of 2x4's I do feel that it will be a more then adequate stand. Some will agree, some will disagree I am sure. The stand is constructed of 3/4" 9 ply walnut finish plywood on the sides back and top. The bottom is a piece of run of the mill 3/4" ply. The top to back joint is situated so that the top completly overlaps the back piece on the horizontal plane. For the rest of the joints however the sides and front sandwich the front. I used almost a hundred biscuits in the construction of this thing! Anyway I will ramble on. The sides sandwhich the middle and then the front is biscuited onto the overall frame of it. The front is constructed of solid birds-eye maple. I used a mortice and tennon type joint to join the 4 pieces. The top section of the front is about 8 inches wide and will be supporting the full width of the front of the tank w/ no center section support, so I am doubbled it on the inside w/ a piece of 3/4" plywood. he stand dimensions are 49.5" wide 36" tall and 24.75" front to back Here is a pic of my buddy ricky holding the doors in place for me Here is a pic of the tank sitting on the stand in the back yard This is a pic of the back of the tank right after drilling for my closed loop system Bulkheads installed, I went with 5 3/4" and 2 1.5" schedule 80's This is the back of the tank w/ the intake installed and the output manifold ready for installation Here is all the closed loop plumbing completed A shot of the ampmaster 3000 pump mounted underneath above the sump Here is a full shot of the tank being fresh water tested. I just finished the sump on sunday. The return pump is a iwaki 30, it is just plumbed to a piece of locline at the top right of the tank now, but soon I will be adding a seaswirl right in the middle of the back, and will modify it to rotate 180. The plumbing actually didn't have any leaks and is now slowly filling up w/ rodi. Hopefully on Thursday I will begin the transfer from my 55g One last shot of the inside of the tank while full of fresh Well that is it for now, I got some nice new 50 lbs of LR from Walt Smith to add to the 70ish lbs that I have now

| Golden Moray | Sweet setup!!! You're not going to have any flow issues in that tank. I can't wait to see it stocked.

| Fire Coral | Thanks Craig, I am totally stoked to get this bad boy running, I just called my wife and it is almost half full of water already!!! So when I get home I can mix in some salt w/ the closed loop system, and start heating it up in preperation for Thursday. I am going to try to use almost of my water out of my 55 to help ease the transition.

| Smilie Bartender ![]() | big t, sorry for the inconvenience but your pics were moved within the gallery so the links are no longer valid. When you upload them, you have to choose the appropriate category (tank shots, fish, sps, etc...not member galleries). It's kind of a quirky piece of software like that, I wish it didn't offer uploads to member galleries at all but I haven't found a good solution to date. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. If you want to fix the links, your photos won't be moved again. Travis

| Reef Shark ![]() | Having been through this before... all that is usually needed for the fix is to change 1 digit in the link ...For example, Your ampmaster pic is stored here: [no-url]http://www.reefsanctuary.com/photopost/data/508/320ampmaster-med.jpg while your link points here:[no-url]http://www.reefsanctuary.com/photopost/data/500/320ampmaster-med.jpg As you see, all that is needed in this case is to change the 500 to 508, and the link will work again... Cotton pickin automated software...O.K., I've added the word no- to the first box for each link to prevent it from automatically becoming a link, so it would actually show the complete address...
