yea its pine and the other is spruce and this was cheaper. we consulted with a homedepot guy and he said that pine used to be used to build houses and they're about the same strength. he said that pine was stronger but harder to nail into, but since i'm using screws thats not a problem. going to do some more work today, maybe finish

well one of my lfs was going out of business so i bought a korelia1 and titnium 300w heater and pvc cleaner and cement for $15

Killer deal! That Korelia alone is worth like $30 bucks at my LFS. Gratz to you're good buy!

As for the stand.. Im gonna join the masses when I say a 55 just isn't going to be enough. It's been a great starter tank but as you know from my thread a pain in the arse as well!

You're going to do great with it tho, Im sure.

Sounds like you are off to a good start.
Great score on the power head and heater etc.
Since the tank will be FOWLR for a while that will make it easier to scape and I love 29g for sumps or fuges. I have one for each.
That would add a lot of water volume and a lot of stability to your system.

okay i will prob do a 29g or 20g sump and 29g fuge. my next tank will hopefully be a 100g or bigger

i want to do two "seperate" scapes with caves and stuff and have a space for "free swim" in the middle. i will use rods to stabalize them

i did some more work today and redid some the the braces going across because i was not satisfied with them. well i'll post a pic in a bit. put on some plywood tomorrow
