Let me explain, without God,none of the rest exist. Without a tank, whats the point of having a job?and without a job your not going to have a wife who will provided children, who in turn brings home pets you will have to pay and care for.

How do you plan on hiding the zip ties?

Live Rock Rubble will do the SAME thing as Bio-Balls and is NOT a suitable replacement for BIO-BALLS in a Reef System! It's ALL gotta go!!

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

That side is not quite finish. I'll finish tomorrow, its good to stop and think too, lol. Iwas looking at it and saw that some parts, i wont need to use foam to fill the gaps or to hide the zip ties. Because simply, some of my corals are going to do that. Lots of holes and nook that i'll leave bare to be able to put frags and other rocks with corals already on them. The aim here is to have a sculpture to accomodate, new arrivals. I've got a bout 20 lb used right now. I figure, to use about the same for the other sculpture, so that will be 40 lb. i'm 20 lb short of 60lb. Not sure what i'll do . i do want to keep the rocks off the sand as possible. I may have to alter plans for the background, to accomodate the difference. Anyway , thanks guys for your support and comments.

Well thats how i celebrated my sculpture tonight, Duck a l'India

Cooked 7 1/2 minutes on each side, to be served rare of course

Ah Voila with small potatoes and carrotine, cooked in the duck fat( very good for low cholesterol by the way)

And no meal wold be complet for a frenchman without, the proper wine and goblet Pinot Noir 2006

And there you go Satisfaction in a meal well prepared! Bon appetit

Hmm, guess my meatloaf dinner doesn't count in this thread. Does it matter that I make really good meatloaf?
Looks like you had a productive day.

How much rock

Ok , slowly realising that the amount of rock i'm gona need is less than the 1lb / gallon of tank. I know i'm overthinking this but i worried about filtration. If i use only about 40-45 lb of rock, and not 65 lb that i should for the tank. Am i gona be in trouble in the long run. That really bugs me. Paul, Allen , Lynn, Frankie , Teri ,anybody?

Re: OK a 65 G Slowly but the best i can make it

Well the porosity (is that a word) makes more difference than the weight. If there are lots of little tiny places for the bacteria to hide then you can get away with less rock.
Another possibility is to put some LR in your sump or fuge.
Regardless the 1lb per gallon is just a guideline and not a rule. Many people run with less. You just have to watch your parameters and see where the tank balances out. You may need to keep a smaller bio-load. You may not. Each tank is different.

Ok thanks, my fuge, is small 29g but with baffles and things smaller; and was counting on just on 1 big rock and cheato in it, so i can remove the rock and syphon the fuge easily, no sand. relying on my skimmer and maybe a sock when i'm there( gone 45 days at a time) . I hope its gona be enough. i may alter the second structure to accomodate more rocks, oh ya for got to post it.Oh no its there, second page with the eggcrate.

Re: OK a 65 G Slowly but the best i can make it

Today was foam day. It didn't do or reacted the way i wanted, one of the branch shifted during process and i didn't noticed it, i'm kinda bumed
It din't turn out the way i wanted it to be. its not totally bad but.... its not finished yet. I've got to add the 2 small endings to the branches, and then glaze it with the resin and crush coral and then complete assembly inside the tank. The orientation of the branch is a major blow to the overall look i wanted. Now it looks more mechanical than natural because of it.

If you walk away from it for a while I am sure you will get an idea. It may well turn out even better than you imagined.
