Well one of those days; you see, it was a good morning sunny, and all. we started the gazebo thing arounds 10 am, the first thing we noticed ; they where some screws misssing. That should of been my first clue as to how this day would unfold. we proceeded to the Homedepot where the gazebo was bought. Came back and started to assemble the thing, mid section some of the instruction didn't fit the parts mmmh, after two long hours of soul searching among other thing, we when back to the store, with questions. after another hour of waiting and discussions with the head of the department we came to the conclusion that the part we had brough back where part of ....wait for it....another set that had been mixmatch. So we went back home to undo the structure and bring it back and got a new set. it took about two hours for this one...at time i would ask Louis ( Your sure your an architec, tabarnaque!) He may be able to draw a line without a ruler but when it come to puzzel. i don't know i keep saying he's a fraud. I'm good at puzzel actually, not for mesurements i'm terrible. But give me a picture and an a to b map , i'm quick. But that plan was a bit crude and we did it by deduction most of it. So everything was going according to plan. we decided to take a beer break inside, the weather was getting cloudy.... we are drinking when suddenly; the sky darkens and the wind pick up like crazy. A scene from the ten Commendments, is the only way to put it, hale and pouring rain, buckets of it, trees bending and then we thought of are gazebo...not totally fasten to the terrace. The first thing we saw was the four post all croken and on their side. It took a bit longer to find the roof. The neighbor's pool was really accomodating for the landing. It seems they where gone for the weekend...on their boat......why not, its suppose to be good weather all around. A yes now , the sun was shinning again. and all. You know when you've known a person for 30 years, like i've known Louis. And you know what's gona set them off; by this time i needed some amusement ,so i said ; ( you know this is your fault!!! If we had'nt taken that break we'd be finish by now..... so the name calling and are temper flared, the cursing frog; that would be me, gave its best shots and cheap one a like, to releave pressure that was mounting since the morning. The wife saw fit to send us both to are corners, and tonight i'm eating my steak alone at home. But i can always count on Louis to get in trouble with Nathalie, after 20 years of mariage; which i organised between them. I know how they work, so he's comming over here tonight to watch the dam hockey game like Nathalie put it. But hey its the last Canadian team on the map, gotta watch it. We know where are priorities lies. Anyway that was my unproductive day. tomorrow rockwork

PVC structure

This morning i started the PVC structure, cutting my tube to make a post the height of the tank.

I could of used pvc glue, but i had aquarium silocone on hand, so not to waste anything...

I've calculated the height to allow 2 1/2 inch of sand to go underneath the structure, leaving between 1 to 1 1/2 clearance for better water circulation, and a mini cave for critters lol.

This is just to see the height and look for now; i've got other plan for this post. You'll see in the next phase.

For now i have to let it dry. That give me time to reflect on different possibilities for the post.In the mean time i'll be litteraly eating with my creation, since i've been using the old dining room table to do this. I do not have the luxury of a garage in a condo. But hey, i'm comfortable and working at my height and most importantly... near the beer lol

Sorry for the blury pictures i'm not a good camera man lol

Drilling my rock or my chalk

Drilling holes in my rocks seem to be a good thing to pass time, while the silicone dry off the structure. I used a mason bit. Since i plan to use airline tube to attach the frags i chose the right size 1/4 , its a snug fit.

Some of the hole are bigger sometimes, the bit move relatively easily in this chalky rock, so you have to be straight foreward and not take your time or the hole gets bigger, found that out.But with putty i'll be fine.

I didn't loose to many rocks. In deed , some crack open, being small chalky and drilled from angles, some broke, but only 3, so far, and reusable for sure.

Re: OK a 65 G Slowly but the best i can make it

If the pvc branch are too long it gona be to heavy, so i'm going to alter the ends a bit.Using the caps and inserting acrylic rods at the end. Their wont be much weight at the end.Just small rock and foam for the tips. I'm wondering what kind of corals i can put on such a narrow tip. Any ideal anyone i'll write it down for future refference. By the way i appologize for my grammar i get confuse with pronoun and stuff. feel free to tell me i don't get upset over these things; i'm here to learn as much the language as the hobby, thanks for your help.

Drilled the cap and perfect fit for the rods

Inside the tank now

A bit too long but better for the weight and look. Remember this will be covered by small rocks and zip ties, then the gaps, with foam sprinkled with sand. Well thats the plan anyway. Never did this. Just copying whats in the rockwork thread By the way i appreciate any suggestions, this is a work in progress, so chime in before it too late. Does anyone hear me...lol .

I'm also wondering if the accrylic rods are going to bend. I've seen them being used, but just wondering.

Re: OK a 65 G Slowly but the best i can make it

Do you think it will tip over when you put the rock on those two horizontal bars? I can't tell the actual dimensions from the pictures but it looks like the feet might be to close together making it unstable once you add all of the rock on the horizontal bars.
Can't wait to see how this looks when it's done.

They are too long i haven't cut them to their lenght yet, it was jus a test run to see the look and exactly to see where was the tipping point, so ya your right at that.

Nitrate (NO3) reduction is directly proportional to percentage of Water Change.
Allen's home-made formula...currentNO3-((%WC*.01)currentNO3)=finalNO3 (thanks Luukosian)
This means if you change 50% of your total water volume (That's EVERYTHING) you'll get a net reduction of (NO3) somewhere around 50%.

Ask me about how to increase your REEF budget without going without FOOD!!

Do you think the accrylic rods will bend, it fairely rigid but it bend too. Not much weight will be at the ends but just wondering, i heard that accylic baffles sometime warp in the water.

Thats the other side of the equasion

Leaning againts the coast to coast Calfo overflow

The inside of the overflow

Again its not cut to lenght yet, just looking at the possibilities, and ideals. I have a rough ideal of what i want but its time to explore . After all its going to be there for a long time; i don't plan on redoing this every other year, no sir. If i can keep it like that for 30 years like some, i'll be happy lol.
