Re: OK a 65 G Slowly but the best i can make it

I read most of the chronicle posts. It's a great way to learn, especially since I've never had a reef tank before.

No tank yet. I have a few remodeling projects that must get done before my daughter's wedding. After that I'll be able to get a tank. Right now I'm just reading, researching and planning.

Its the best way, avoiding a lot of mistake that way; but not immune to them, lol. there's always one or two waiting for you to make. But you can't foresee all of them, too many pitfalls. But i got great ideals from many sources. one of my best research let me to do a thread about rockwork and its been fun to read , post and get my own ideals about how to do mine. Will soon start posting pics of my sculpture i want to do for the tank. Should get my rocks today. Then its zip tie time and foam time youhooo

Re: OK a 65 G Slowly but the best i can make it

I dont know how I missed the beginning of this thread. It was a rough few months and I didnt come on here very often, but I read through it and it looks like this is going to be an awesome system. I am definitely following along now

As for the dolphins, I am also jealous, but if everything goes as planned I will be able to work with them every day of my Life!!!

And with that lighting setup on a 65 you are going to be able to grow anything your heart desired. 500 watts of MH lighting on a 65 may actually be too much in some instances, you are going to want to watch for bleaching and be prepared to mount them higher up if that is whats needed. The T5's are more than likely just there for some actinic supplementation so that its not all super sunlight...lol

And i noticed you were waiting for cash for the vortechs, might I suggest some HK's instead. I LOVE my hydor koralias and they put out some awesome dispersed flow in the higher numbers, a 3 and a 4 on a 65 gallon tank would probably be all you need, thats over 2000 gallons per hour.

Know what? The job will depend on when I get done with college and what I can find. The college is already picked, I was accepted (twice), now all I need to do is find somewhere to live down there and schedule classes. The University of North Carolina's Wilmington Branch Campus (UNCW), its BEAUTIFUL, and pretty good for Marine Biology.

You just answered, i wanted to know when you where going to college there. So how long is to be a biologist, college and then university i would imagine a good 5 years. A long haul, with opportunities to work summer jobs in your field ; i'm still jalous, great career for you Hope the best for you. sorry if i don't make sense some time distracted by this tv show lol.

I have a question; under my sand bed, is it necessary to put eggcrates on the bottom and why.
