Well the plumbing was pretty simple. I decided not to use a ball valve on the return from the Mag 12 since the pump will not be able to handle the flow from the drain. I wish I would've known the drain would be 1 1/2" or I would have ordered a Mag 18, I just can't afford to get another pump right now. I just added a baffle in the sump it's drying and then tomorrow I'll do a fresh water test.

I also added a couple of fans to the hood. I'm going to take apart the coralife PC's just before I'm ready to swith everything over since it's still being used in my old tank .

Maybe someone can help me with the durso stand pipe. Because I"m to use 1 1/2 " PVC I cant fit the the T and the elbow, there's just not enough room even if I went down to 1 1/4 pipe. Could it work with just the elbow ?

Sometimes it works with just the elbow.
But a stockman standpipe would be a better choice in your case.
Do a search for it on google. Should bring up Ken Stockman's page with details on how to build it. Very easy, it's what I use. Takes a little more fine tuning to make it silent, but it works great.

http://www.rl180reef.com/pages/stand...n_stockman.htm

That's the page from Richard Durso's page. I would recomend cutting a box out of the pipe instead of drilling the holes. Keeps it from getting clogged, and I had fewer noise issues when I actually cut a big hole out, had a lot more trouble tuning it to be silent with the little holes drilled in the pipe.

Mike how big is your tank ? The webpage says " pictured is handling about 300GPH but I think it could handle more then that."

Do you think it can handle about 1000gph ?

Thanx Craig

Well the plumbing is done except the standpipe and the big water test is coming tomorrow hopefully it'll go well

I'm gonna try the standpipe as is, if it doesn't work I'm gonna try the stockman standpipe I just have to find out how much flow it can handle.

Mine flows about 500-600 gph through a 1inch overflow.
I have no doubt that the standpipe can handle some more flow than that. The internal box can't handle anymore in my case.

If you are worried that the pipe can't handle anymore flow, just cut a larger hole into the pipe where the water enters.
A smaller hole in the top of the stockman stand pipe (where the air enters) will result in lower water level in the overflow chamber.
A larger hole will raise the water level.
